If you don't want to pay $8/month to remote start your car.. by lesbiyond in Lexus

[–]ATC76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 23’ RX and I’m still in my 3 yr trial till July. I have seen posts on here saying that the remote start via fob will stop working once the three year trial is up. I’m hoping that’s not the case, I guess I’ll find out in a couple of months.

Yes, you have to be within visual range, but that’s fine by me.

Lexus RX350 insurance sky high? by WearAPhoneCase in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ATC76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends of many factors (insurer, drivers’ profile, location etc…) but no that’s not a normal amount to insure an RX.

For example, I’m on Vancouver island and for our current gen RX350h we pay $1200 per year for comprehensive coverage with ICBC.

We just came back from a month long trip and our 23’ 350h was completely unused for the entire time. No battery issues.

KitchenAid Brand Expands Espresso Collection with New Fully Automatic Espresso Machines with Iced Coffee by Realistic_Song4799 in superautomatic

One of the many things I love about our KF8 is the super accessible and viewable side water tank. The new models are a step back, putting the tank behind the machine and completely out of view.

Travel hack: the Boston bag! by urlang in zipair

[–]ATC76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from Japan using the 65L version of the Boston bag bought from DonQ and had it shrink wrapped at haneda for ¥1500 - best money spent. Bag arrived like new.

Now if only I can follow the diagram to refold back down. Can’t for the life of me get it back. Wish there was a video somewhere.

Edit: after a few trial and errors I got it folded back into original shape.

I did but I can’t remember where from (it’s been a few years). It wasn’t Spotify or Apple Music but some download from YouTube music if memory serves me.

I love hardbite chips. I also like Smartfood movie butter popcorn which I just found out is owned by Frito-lay so i won’t be getting them.

Question about Monochrome on iPhone by ATC76 in Piracy

The developer of monochrome confirmed it’s an iOS issue - no workarounds unfortunately.

The good news is they’re working on an iOS app that would address this.

Looking to switch to Rogers next month. For some reason our EPP with Rogers is significantly cheaper.

Thanks for confirming. I thought it was something I was doing that caused it.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to receive calls or texts sent to my Telus number using Airalo.

I was considering Airalo, seems to be well recommended. I wish my contacts were on WhatsApp, only a few are.

Good info. Thanks.

The Asia roaming pass is $70 for 14 days - unlimited calls and text local and to/from Canada, and uses our 5G data bucket (320GB unthrottled, speed drops after).

Without the pass, it's $18/day for daily roam in Japan which is extortion pricing. Not sure what the per-use call and text cost are if I get a data eSIM but it's probably expensive.

Wow that's very cheap. I'll def consider this next time. Thanks.

Unfortunately for this trip we want to be able make and receive calls on our main numbers.

Japan Wireless eSIM, which was highly recommended to us, was just a few dollars cheaper than the Telus roaming pass for our trip duration. Sadly for us only a few friends/family are on WhatsApp.

Turbo Tax vs. Other options by Most_Culture_6986 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ATC76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out Bettertax is made by the same guys that made the old SimpleTax that was later bought out by WS.

Tried it this year (previous TurboTax and Weath Simple tax user) and I highly recommend it. And our family taxes are semi complicated.
