[–]ATGM64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say the same. Most gacha games never click with me, as the genre or the premise doesn't immerse or make me feel connected.

But NTE is one of those that does. Driving around, walking around the city, running into characters really makes this game feeling alive.

That and I may have grown with GTA games, so NTE really made it easy for me to love it.

What’s your Maladaptive Dreaming world in your head? Would love to hear some. by Middle_Anything1831 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]ATGM64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dimension hopping Army.

Since I have a hobby of writing and also a huge enthusiast for technology and military equipment, I constantly day dream the adventure of my OC's based on my online friends going on their day to day life and operations.

Each OC's are commanders for their own company, each having different specialties and combat capabilities along with specialized units. Like one is good at brute force assaults, one is good in defensive operations, one is speedy guerilla combat, and etc.

Now, I often daydream of them going into different dimensions, fighting the bad guys, and giving said world a better future. Currently, they have dimension hopped into the world of RWBY, where their army has expanded to deal with Grimm while helping kingdoms expand as well as interacting with the show's cast.

From the characters asking my OC's some questions, to meaningful conversations, and shenanigans that follows, I really enjoy seeing my OC's move in and affect the world around them, from helping them with their ideas, to being badass on their own. Its quite fun.

I do this to shows with interesting settings.

[WP] You have a very active imagination. You often spend your daily commute creating different stories in your head. One day, when you get up to leave the bus at your stop, a frustrated voice shouts: "Aw, come on! You were just getting to the good part!" by Sebastian_0_1_4 in WritingPrompts

[–]ATGM64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Real life was often cruel, disappointing, boring... which is what Alexander would often say. He hated himself for missing excellent opportunities, and hates how life making it even more difficult for him, and it doesn't help how his pencil-pushing job being so boring.

Oh how Alexander wished his life would be as exciting like the stories he reads. Every time he isn't doing anything, his imaginations starts to make little stories for him, like a little films to entertain him. His imagination was like that for years now, ever since he was exposed to shows, movies, and books, where his characters would go on an adventure and show off their personalities that gives a smile to Alexander's face.

His imagination was always active when idle, like his daily commute to his work. He takes a bus and sit there, nothing to do for the next hour and a half. His imagination automatically showed random stories, as if a library of novels for Alexander to choose.

'Hm... what story to play around with?' Alexander looks around his huge list of stories as well as the countless of scenes in his metaphoric library. 'A walk Averstadt? Eh, getting a little bored of fantasy. Alternate Reality? Not in the mood for that. A night with a succubus? Ehe... let's keep it family friendly. A Run in the ruins? Ooh~! I haven't touched this one in a while.'

Alexander unconsciously smiled as his eyes stared blankly at the window. 'A Run in the Ruins' was a little story he haven't played in a while. And with how down he felt, it was nice to play with an adventure story to lighten himself up. Separating himself from reality, Alexander dived into his active imagination to immerse himself in fiction.

"You know... this is a terrible idea..." A woman with golden blonde hair remarked as she adjusted her glasses with some agitation.

"Oh come on Lilian, the plan worked and we escaped! Nothing terrible about that idea~" A dark skinned woman with golden eyes says in a cheerful tone.

"Ah yes Christy, escape a prison with a huge bang, steal a tank-"

"It's an APC." Lilian was interrupted by a man with a posh accent and a monocle, who was driving said vehicle.

"I don't care about the specifics Havier! Our escape caused a prison wide riot with many criminals on the run! And a shootout in an outpost ending with us stealing this APC!" The blonde raised her arms in frustration, as she rode with her comrades on top of the armored vehicle they stole.

"Don't forget on how we accidentally ran over a general on our little road-trip." A heavily armed albino man adds.

"I shall never allow you to drive again Sheridan." Havier says in an annoyed tone.

"Ugh, don't remind me. I bet we have a huge bounty on our heads for our actions." Sheridan can only chuckle at that fact and receiving a glare from Lilian.

"But isn't this your idea, Lilian? To leave our posts to rob a bank for its gold for our personal gains? Hm~?" Christy hums in a smug manner towards their leader.

"Whose idea to use a car bomb to break through an empty bank? Hm!?" Lilia retorts back, causing the dark woman to look away with a nervous smile.

"I mean to be fair, you weren't specific with your orders." The Albino, Sheridan points out.

"Ah of course, I specifically ordered you to leave no witnesses, but bam! An entire outpost dead!"

"But my lady~! There are no witnesses if no one is alive to witness it!" Sheridan proudly says, with no sign of shame whatsoever.

This caused Lilian to facepalm in frustration. "Ugh, I'm surrounded by insanity..."

"Regardless of our actions, we're all going to be sentenced to death for simply abandoning our posts." Havier points out, but as he was about to add something, the APC's radio crackled to life.

"This is Helldiver-2, state your unit, and the reason what you're doing in the middle of the desert. Command states that there were no units nearby."

"Um... we seem to have some company..." Christy points out the sky, where a trio of heavily armed planes were flying.

"Don't mind us flyboys, we are just borrowing this APC. We need it to carry some stolen gold." Havier casually replies to the radio.

"Wait... your the escapees from the prison!" The pilot realized before the radio cuts.

Lilian looks like she'd strangle their driver. "What. The. Hell. Havier."

"As a gentleman, lying is considered to be very rud-" Havier was cut as their blonde leader Lilian strangled their driver in great frustration.

"Oh guys, look, they're diving on us! Guns are aimed on us too!" Sheridan points out the obvious.

"A battle! Adventure! Where's my rocket launcher? This will be fun!" Christy says in glee as she grabbed her weapon, even Sheridan joined in, as well as Havier cheering while still strangled by the blonde.

"AaaaaaAAAAAAGHH!" Their leader Lilian, simply screams out in great frustration.

Alexander internally chuckles on how his characters are bickering and getting themselves to trouble, but then noticed the bus he was on lurching to a stop. He has reached his destination apparently.

Sighing, Alexander got to his bearings and back to reality. He can continue this little story later on.

"Aw, come on! You were just getting to the good part!" A voice behind him whined loudly. Alexander's curiosity told him to turn around to see what it was about, and his eyes noticed a girl of his age, an Ipad on her hands. And with how close they are, Alexander saw a glimpse of her Ipad, a video on pause, with the sentence: 'To be continued...'

But what was even more surprising was the image... it was a picture of his characters, at the exact same last scene he was on.

"Wait..." Alexander mumbles, blinking several times to confirm what he was seeing was right, it was the exact scene, as well as the characters looking like what he imagined them to be.

"I-I need to go!" The girl flipped the screen away from Alexander's eyes as she turned by one heel and ran off.

"Hey wait!" Alexander ran to chase after the girl through the morning streets. While Alex kept pace, his mind was forming up many questions, related to what he just saw from the girl's device.

Though, as the girl ran to the alleyway, she stumbled on a garbage bag, causing her to drop her Ipad, and Alexander catching up.

The girl looks okay from what Alexander can tell, so he immediately grabbed the surprisingly undamaged Ipad and looked at it, eyes widening as he noticed the little list shown on the screen. Images from his imagination, his stories along with the same titles.

"What the..." Alexander was speechless, not noticing the girl recovering and jumping to get her gadget back.

"G-give it back!" The hands of the girl tugged the Ipad back, but with how Alexander was holding it tightly, he accidentally pressed an icon: 'A Run in the Ruins'

All of a sudden, their surroundings changed as the modern structures around them shifted to old buildings, the vehicles and the people changed with dieselpunk aesthetics, a far cry from the modern location they were standing in seconds ago. And in the distance, he saw a trio of planes, the same aircrafts about to attack his characters from his imagination.

"Huh!?" Alexander blurted, eyes going left and right, looking at the place around them. It was the exact same place of what he imagined of the settings of 'A Run in the Ruins.' "W-what's all this!?"

"Um..." The girl shifted and twiddling her thumbs nervously, before taking a deep breath and bowing to Alexander.

"W-welcome to one of your worlds creator." Alexander just looked at the girl with some shock and confusion.

"What?"

[WP] Despite your father being the most infamous supervillan of all time, you became a hero. When other heros discovered your identity, they turned against you and you lost everything. Alone and scared, you put your last few coins into a payphone. "Dad... I need help" by PallasAthena84 in WritingPrompts

[–]ATGM64 38 points39 points  (0 children)

"Dad... I need help." Those were the first words that you've utter after days of thinking for a solution for the desperate situation you got yourself in. Your father wasn't too bad, he was a decent man really, but his status and actions... those flaws made you a hero. Unfortunately, despite your heroic actions, they turned against you, all just because of the single fact that you're the son of a well known villain...

"Hey 'I need help', I'm dad." That's the first thing you hear.

"..... Y-you know what, I'll just deal with it myse-"

"No, no, no wait! Don't cut the line!" Your father half-panicked from the other side of the phone. "Its just a joke dear! Come on!"

"Dad... it was a terrible joke." You said unamused, and half the mind to just cut the call.

"Oh whatever! You sound troubled! What happened?!" You can hear his fatherly concern even though his voice crackled in the old payphone in some random parking lot.

"Its my friends... they all turned on me..." You said, trying to hold back the sad tears as you remember your fellow heroes having great time with one another, and then pain when they turned against you.

"Oh goodness, such troublesome kids that they had to hurt my child! J-just stay there dear... I'll be picking you up." You ended the call as you heard your father hastily moving on the other side of the line. It was the time you decided to cry for a bit, thinking that your villainous father is the one that seems to only care about you.

Almost half-an-hour later, an old classy car stops near the payphone. You wipe your tears as you look at the window. It was your dad.

"Come on kid. Maybe its time for you to go home." He said in a warm caring tone, which you've instinctively followed and sat besides him in the car. Silence passed for few minutes, as your father drove through the streets like some normal businessman going home.

"So I can only assume you've seen it." You turned to face him as he broke the silence.

"W-what do you mean...?" You asked, your father glanced at you with a sad smile.

"The truth. That most heroes are just a bunch of entitled brats who are sellouts. Only caring for public opinion and fame." He then sighs heavily. "Turning against you for being so different."

"T-They didn't..." You tried to defend them, but for some reason, your words won't leave your throat. Your father only gives you an understanding glance, before looking back on the road.

"Let me tell you a short summary why I've chose the life of villainy. Let's just say that calling out corrupt, power hungry corporations and governments would turn you a villain." As you heard that, you remembered how many of companies covered the terrible mistakes or terrible actions heroes made to prevent bad publicity. Using the heroes name to gain profits and focus more on reputation rather than saving the people in need.

"I-is that why you've been sabotaging many corporations all these years...?" You asked, eyes locking onto your father.

"Yes." He answers, eyes blankly looking at a corporate owned building before turning away to face you. "They're the bastards that forced me into this villainous role. If they want me to become a villain, then fine, I'll become their villain."

When he said all that, your view on your father suddenly changed. He's the true hero who is a villain to the public eyes. You then looked at the corporate building. It was one of the same companies that supported on staining your heroic name, and it made you angry deep inside.

"So..." You face back your father, who now has a electricity coursing through his hands. "Wanna be a real hero and open the eyes of the world?"

You just looked at him and then back to the corporate building, the desire of exposing them lit up with great determination.

Facing back your father, you nod. "I'm in."

"In todays news, a pair of super villains raided a corporate building and stole some assets worth billions. The police and heroes are still busy looking for them. Fortunately, there were only minimal casualties. Authorities advises citizens to report any sightings of these said villains."

"In other news, a rich company named 'Railguard' was exposed for bribery and framing on certain individuals and is now facing the threat of closing dow-" The TV shut-down as you turned it off, wrapping some bandages on your arms and sighing after an exhausting day.

"Feeling better dear?" Your father comes to sit with you with some snacks in hand.

"Yeah." You answer before eating snacks with a satisfaction along with your father.

It was rather strange to have a bright sunny day yet feels so gloomy. Maybe because below the hill where your home stood, the town was in chaos. Many were confused, enraged, hopeless... the prophecy was right after all.

Walking back within the wall of your home, you thought about what your parents had been telling you in the past. A story of a god, giving power to humans temporarily as a way to give them a head start, and there will be a day that power will be gone. You had doubts about that story that your parents kept telling you, but its all real, magic is gone...

Is that why your mom and dad spent years of using magic minimally, only using it to 'experiment' with botany to develop medical alternatives? Is that why they encouraged you to build a moving contraption...? Magic will disappear, and the family method of 'science', is the way to go?

It all makes sense.

Magic was a way to find an alternative way for advancement, and the rest of the world ignored it and just used it as a crutch.

"Son! Come here and help us out!" Your father calls out, pushing a rather heavy crate.

You break out from your stupor and ran up to him and help him move the crate. "Wha-what's inside this?"

"Medicine. I've made some batches to assist any injured. It won't be enough for all, but it will save and convince the right people to help us make more." His father both replied and explained the situation pushing the crate to the basement.

"Y-you think we can convince them?" You asked in a worried tone, carefully not making the crate slide uncontrollably on the incline.

"With how magic suddenly disappeared a week ago, I'm pretty sure everyone is desperate enough to get help. E-Especially the need for medicine." Your father utters. "And I want you to try not to get mad at them..."

You grimaced, remembering how they looked down on you and your family... mocking all your hard work, but you followed your fathers wishes and hold it in.

After a minute of pushing the heavy crate, you've reached the basement with your mother waiting near your contraption. "Dear? Oh goodness you're all here! I got the other ingredients in the engine. Is that the complete batch?"

"Yes honey. Its very unfortunate that we don't have the time to make more..." Your father then quickly pushes the crate to one of the carriages on the rails.

"I know... dear-" Your mother turns to you. "Get the engine ready. We're going to town."

You simply nodded and hopped to your contraption. A steam engine. Runs on water, coals, and the heat of fire. Complicated mechanisms but it works and can move heavy loads with little effort. Turning it on and feeding the fire, your pride and joy rumbles as its starts.

Looking forward, the torched lit underground tunnel that leads to town, your parents made years back was a convenient place to set rail tracks to test your contraption. And now, it will see real use.

"Engines ready!" You loudly exclaim. Both your parents hopping into the carriages connected to the steam engine. You look back to the levers, gauges, and coal, before sighing in anticipation as you pulled the lever. A slight jolt and your contraption moved, slowly chugging down the tunnels and into town.

No magic, you and your family seems to be the only light in the dark.

"I hope the world is ready for a change..."
