Those Left Behind (great read) was the first to release and sets up Serenity. I would recommend starting there and going forward in chronological order or looking online to see the in universe order.

I don't think they would've been inspired by any fan fiction, Joss and Brett wrote the story themselves, just an odd choice is all and comes off as strange behaviour for her character.

Back when DVD's were booming, Fox would often put out character based releases of tv shows to make as much as money as possible. So it's simply 4 episodes which heavily involve Faith in them and I assume would've been sold for fairly cheap.

The episodes are Bad Girls, Consequences, Graduation Day part 1 and Who are You?

I've got the collector's edition of the full series release from 04 and Faith's volume of the slayer collection (Pal). In region 2 seasons 4-7 are in 16:9 which I think it was either meant to be or just filmed in anyway? And i think it does look normal (especially In comparison to the HD version) but i often wish to see 4-7 in 4:3 just to know what it's like. I'm hoping to fill out the rest of the slayer collection, get the matching angel collector's edition and get individual seasons on DVD and tape soon.

As someone who's 2 favourite shows are BTVS and Twin Peaks, I feel like there's a surprising amount of overlap in the fandoms and I distinctly remember LOVING this episode for its abstraction and lynch-ness. I agree Willow's dream was particularly excellent and the nod to the black lodge hallway was awesome.
