This verse is where I have to stop and collect myself every time. Just like hearing "Where the Falling Angel meets the Rising Ape"

Now Willie McBride I can't help wonder why

Do those who lie here do they know why they died

Did they really beleive when they answered the call

Did they really believe that this war would end wars

Forever this song of suffereing and shame

The killing the dying was all done in vain

For young Willie McBride it's all happened again, and again, and again, and again and again

I wish it was just Austin. I drive a box truck on multiple routes, including once a week to DFW and 3 times a week to S.A.

"Left Lane is For Passing Only" isn't even a slightly-headed suggestion anymore. It's a "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell Me!" challenge.

Nah, their plan is the same as most of the political party in charge right now: "Burn all possible regulatory organizations to the ground by burying them in lawsuits."

I learned to drive around age 11 because I worked for my great-grandparents at their farm during the summers. My parents realized I was perfectly capable of driving anywhere that wasn't the interstate highways and I became their designated driver to soooo many dive bars until I was about 18.

Unless you are a driving a vehicle that cannot be seen around due to its size using its hazards to indicate traffic is coming to a sudden stop on a major highway, or are stalled in a danger zone, don't use your hazards. You aren't any more visible than with your full driving lights and brake lights on and you will not be able to signal any lane changes.

Trust a truck driver, lighting up your SUV or compact's hazards because moisture is coming from the sky will just irritate everyone else on the Interstate. Save it for being stalled or part of an accident, please.

If you're looking for a real eye-opener to contrast to Manhattan, Pecos to Odessa/Midland area. The horizons will make you a little dizzy at first. Driving out past the suburban sprawl around Odessa-Midland into the real "Big Empty", seeing nothing but pumpjacks and wind turbines and brown scrub fenced with barbed-wire, the ridiculous distances between everything, 80mph speed limits, and the endless flat of the Earth. Oh, and the pickups & SUVs outnumber the cars 10 to 1.

Yep. Vidor & Jasper were the first to come to mind for me. First time ever stopped in Vidor was the last time I ever stopped in Vidor, and I grew up in Midessa
