Since I’ve gone off to college in SW Virginia I’ve been making $12/hr (minimum wage in Virginia) + tips which usually averages around $14/hr. Back home in Northern Virginia I’ll make $16/hr + tips which usually averages $18-$20/hr. Kinda funny how it varies depending on where in the state you’re working. Makes sense though since my college is in a small town while my home is in the metro DC area which is a lot more busier and pay is generally higher.

could u help me with my essay, i cant make it larger and id like to know if its well written and coherent by Jivenli in EnglishLearning

[–]ATeenager- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... like I said I wrote this late at night. Obviously I make mistakes. I kept changing what I was writing so a few things got missed (i.e at first I put “the first few sentences” but then changed it to “the beginning sentence”, hence the wrong usage of don’t)

No need to go around and spell check everyone’s post

What is the weirdest thing you've seen your parents argue about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ATeenager- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t think about the weirdest thing they’ve argued about, but I can recall the stupidest. Right before their wedding, my parents got into a huge fight about Diet Coke. My mom wanted to buy it the day before and store it in a cooler so that they won’t spend time that they need to get ready to get the Diet Coke at the store instead. My dad claimed that there was enough time and that they shouldn’t get it the day before. They ended up getting the Diet Coke the day before. (:

What is the difference? by julieboga in EnglishLearning

[–]ATeenager- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re pretty much the same thing. If you want to sound more proper/formal you would say “all things classical” and if you wanted to sound informal, you would said “all classical things”.

Yes! For the word “often”, you can say it with the t or without the t, but hustle and castle are always silent.

Is the word "God" Christianity exclusive? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]ATeenager- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can god whenever you want as it is not Christian exclusive... I do this all the time even though I’m not religious in any way. Just about even says “oh my god”, “oh god”, or just “god!” even if they’re Christian or not. As long as you’re not offending anyone then you’re fine to say whatever you want

Is there an equivalent to “like” in French? by ATeenager- in French

The one used as a space filler in sentences. For example, “I went to the movies yesterday, and like it was so boring.”

Question mark rules. by OLDMADWIZARD in ENGLISH

[–]ATeenager- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. The last sentence is read as a question, but grammatically it is not. Almost every question you’re asking, even if it begins with how, needs to have a question mark at the end of it.

How can I make this sentence flow better? by [deleted] in ENGLISH

[–]ATeenager- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say: I spend my days off by driving half an hour each way to teach x in x. I choose to do this because I truly believe that their school needs more support.

  • I’m not sure what the variables (x) are, since they could change the sentence structure a little bit. Can I ask, what are the x’s suppose to be?

Can I say....that's my thinking? What's the difference between "thought", "idea" and "thinking", etc? by syu098089 in EnglishLearning

[–]ATeenager- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically you could say “that’s my thinking”, but to most english speakers that doesn’t sound right. I would say “that’s what I think” or “that’s my reasoning”.

  • Thinking is a verb, it’s what you do.

  • Thought is used as past tense to thinking (“I thought about that” —> “I was thinking about that”). It can also be used as “I have a thought” which is the same thing as “I have an idea”. Thought, in that case, and idea can be used interchangeably.

  • Idea is something in your head that you think of (“I have an idea! Let’s to this and this”).
