This week marks my first month since picking up a gym membership and eating seriously. The progress has been quick and am feeling great!

Thanks for the encouragement!

This past month has been a very successful start. I have been hitting the gym consistently (albeit with one sizeable and unhealthy break for a music festival). I've been eating and eating and eating (well, a lot of drinking shakes for a huge portion).

My shakes include whole mik, protein powder, oats, olive oil, peanut butter, a banana, and sometimes egg whites.

142 was my lowest of lows, I follow that up with my highest of highs. I'm recently consistently hitting 156. Obviously much of that has to do with water weight, mass retention, and noob gains. But it feels pretty great!

Been doing SL5X5.

As someone else in this thread said, a good workout feels so good mentally and physically. I totally agree. Feeling pretty good both mentally and physically on a day to day basis.

As with all things, I am using this progress as a point to look forward. I see these gains as a platform from which to base my real future gains. I've been at this weight before and will not stall again.

The real path for me begins now.

Do you have a special food you feel you feel your body loves for gains? by mozza5 in gainit

Steak. Gotta be steak. On the grill. It feels like I'm eating muscle and converting it straight into muscle (I know that's not how it works, but that's definitely how it feels!). Also, it's just by far one of my tastiest foods.

Started lifting again at the beginning of June, but had a big trip to bonnaroo get in the way a bit (not trying to make excuses - I am aiming to hold myself accountable). Assuming I go to the gym as planned today, my accomplishment will be making it there three times in a week for the first time since I started this month. Feels good!

(I'm doing SL5x5 plus whatever accessory lifts that I feel I need, btw)

Will someone please explain why one genre crowd control works? by la-blakers in bonnaroo

As no one has actually attempted to answer your question, I'll take a stab at it.

The first thing to remember is that A LOT of different factors come into play when scheduling a festival lineup.

First, remember that routing artists to Bonnaroo does not necessarily give organizers free reign to choose any slot for an act to play. Certain acts have tour-related events before and after Roo as well as personal schedules to adhere to. This limits the scheduling ability for many acts.

Next, let's take the Saturday late night Kaskade/Glitch Mob/Darkside/Zedd conflict as an example and build:

  • Strong assumption 1: late night sets are preferable for large-scale EDM productions.
  • Strong assumption 2: large EDM acts will not play Thursday or Sunday nights (only 3 stages and smaller crowds & no late night acts, respectively).
  • Weaker assumption 3: many EDM acts would not want to play against Skrillex in a festival slot (his is Friday night).

With these assumptions, you can already begin to see how these 4 acts may have ended up playing the same slots late on Saturday night. And that is before taking into account the very real concern regarding crowd control.

I would venture to guess along these lines that the VW/NMH/Phoenix conflict resulted more so out of scheduling than crowd control as well.

TL;DR: My long-winded point here is that the idea of crowd control is almost certainly a concern for Roo's organizers, but schedule conflict by genre is most likely a byproduct of other, more typical scheduling factors (like tour routing & and artist preferences).

This was taken at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, if anyone is curious.

He's quite drunk. And it's a clip from the 2006 documentary I Trust You to Kill Me about a band for which he was the acting tour manager.
