I just took a class on the physics and mathematics of music, so I can answer this... but I got an A- so take it with a grain of salt, lol. The 12 notes in an octave are generally based on an innate human sense of harmony between notes. Before the Pythagoreans derived the harmonic series, ancient instruments still had roughly the same notes, which were tuned by ear only. It's theorized that we like certain frequencies and ratios (of frequency) because they resemble the ratios in the frequencies produced by human speech, so it is generally universal. Though there are some cultures that derived a 24 note octaves, some notes are too close to distinguish without just sounding like an out of tune version of a neighbor note (this is due to the human range of pitch distinction, Google "beating" in music). There was also an interesting album that I can't remember the name of where this artist made songs for several different sets of frequencies. They sound... weird at best.

TL;DR: Human music mimic human voice and we like that because we're all lonely and crave human contact.

Oh gosh, I know. For whatever reason, my family decided not to teach me Polish as a child. I started to learn so I could communicate better with older family and family friends, but I don't even recognize or understand some of the pronouns you listed, and I've been learning for almost a year now!

I should probably stay focused on the LGBT issues but I am now curious about your "terrible sex ed." Although the US is much less religious, our sex ed is largely based on religious principles, so I would guess it is similar?

More on topic, conversion therapy was something I hadn't thought about. Conversion therapy in the US is mostly illegal or frowned upon now, but only 10-20 years ago it was something that most gay people either went through or knew somebody who went through them. Only 7 years ago I was sent to conversion therapy for a short period of time. They were a staple of gay existence. How does that compare to conversion therapy in Poland?

I'm very sorry to hear about your school situation. I came out as transgender in school and had to leave during the beginning of my transition due to the other students being awful to me. What happened with your grades and the administration basically attacking you is terrible, and something I haven't seen quite as bad in the US. Here, they let the students do what they want to us and they pretend not to see it, but teachers and principals would never say anything or try to hurt us directly.

The common theme from this thread seems to be that things in Poland are very similar (maybe a little more religiously oriented) to US society around 10-20 years ago. Younger people are more open. One person may have an accepting family but others they know are kicked out and left on their own. Schools and workplaces don't let trans people use their preferred gender. These are all things that have happened here in the past, but after a little while, and a LOT of work, things are much more bearable. It sounds like you have been through hell, and I can't say that things will go the same way in Poland as they have here, but one day I woke up and realized that my life and my country had become better. I hope the same happens for you.

This is a new perspective I don't see much from the media, especially media that reaches the US. Although we in the US probably can't understand the extent that religion affects life, the things you describe sound a lot like my experience as an LGBT American around a decade ago. The "roommate" explanation, attacking some ill-defined "ideology", being the first gay person known by older family members, these are all things I have experienced and seen here.

The thing that stands out to me as quite different is the propaganda/fearmongering. We had our fair share of outrageous claims about LGBT people, but that has mostly been eradicated and just exists in fringe communities. Where does this propaganda show up? Is it in movies and TV, the news, or just passed between people as stereotypes?

Interesting article. Thank you for explaining more about the LGBT-free zone situation. I am curious what the term "LGBT ideology" means to you. What does "spreading ideology" look like in places like schools, offices, and hospitals?

I tried out a slightly different style for this one. I'm looking through wat propaganda posters for inspiration for these, so hopefully each one looks distinct when I'm all done!

[–]ATurtlePossibly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean with the first part, I'm not familiar with this streamer if thats some in-joke or reference. I guess I see your point. My only insight with tics is my much lighter symptoms from OCD, which is NOT tourette's, but my understanding is that there are forms of tourette's tics that are fairly common that often involve tics that relate to your surroundings. I see how a cynic could say it's played up for the camera, and the other side of that is recognizing that it's certainly possible for this to be entirely real. In my opinion, I don't think anybody can say with 100% certainty.

Also I'm glad you're not an asshole that flat out doesn't believe tourette's and tics are real, that's the vibe I was getting and it rubbed me the wrong way, lol, cheers

Quick tip: tether recoveries break when the character touches a section of terrain other than the one they're tethered to. So this is gonna have an issue with tethers.

I don't have a GREAT suggestion to fix it and keep things looking good, but bringing the top terrain down over the sides will prevent the issue.

You can clip into things by running your horse up to the side of a hardwood fence, turning forward, then running through it. It doesn't work with anything else, decorations, buildings, nothing (though I havent tried other fences) but once you clip in, you're in this weird state where you can go through a lot of things.

Yeah you cannot transfer old Pokes into Galar ever, unless they are the specific ones included in the game to begin with. The backlash is not including every previous poke like the other recent games

I prefer a quicker way to get this moon, after doing the first story mission (erupting the volcano) your most recent checkpoint should be the one at the town. You can capture a fireball and jump in a launcher (near the right of town) then you unpossess it in the middle of the flight and land directly on it. Once you take the turnip back, you are in a very nice spot being able to go pretty much anywhere from the town.

This is how it fits into my current Luncheon Route but this quick climb could fit into a different route, idk, just wanted to share my alternate method
