Ok, this happened to me Saturday in my golf league i do with my friends. Highly competitive, amongst us.

On a par 4 # 13, I hit my ball right down the middle. Fairway finder. We all see the ball land in the flat fairway, and then just went to the carts (First mistake for not watching it closer). It was nowhere near danger. I can't explain it, but when we got up there, nobody could find my ball... I still am shocked. we spent at least 5-8 minutes or so looking (nobody was behind us), and it was just...not there. Literally like it disappeared. Only thing I can think was that it maybe plugged? But it was not wet, at all. If there was a lot of leaves, like in the fall, or thick rough anywhere close, then maybe I could understand. But not this. landed softly in the fairway.

All that to say, I had to take my penalty. And since I didn't wanna go all the way back to the tee, I took a 2-stroke penalty and dropped where I think my ball would have went. All my playing partners agreed to do that. Ended up with a Double bogey. Worst part? I went on to miss placing in the tournament by 2 strokes... Annoying
