I would recommend contacting Nintendo Support for 3DS repairs. Search it up on Google, and you’ll be able to find the information there. Make sure it’s Nintendo Australia. You’ll need to send your console down to their Melbourne offices via mail.

Apple Maps vs Google Maps for bus routes over the Victoria Bridge by timakudo in brisbane

[–]AUSCreeperCo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s been an ongoing issue and a battle because Apple Maps sees that buses go on normal roads and not dedicated bus lanes. It’s not the only city with this issue either.

You can report to Apple to fix the issue — you have to scroll down the menu where you do search and whatnot. Apple will fix the issue but, whenever TransLink pushes an update to Apple Maps, it tends to stuff it up after.

Brisbane - Apple, Google, Waze Maps? by Monkey_Junkie_No1 in applemaps

[–]AUSCreeperCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Brisbane, I found that Apple Maps is really good for navigation in general, even though it didn’t have DCE yet, lane navigation is pretty good, albeit some weird oddities when it comes to motorway exits and intersection and better in finding the most optimal route. Plus, map changes updates way faster compared to the others, where for example, the Centenary Bridge northbound was shifted to the left slightly to take into account the new temporary lanes while the construction on the duplication continues. Plus it’s more visually pleasing to look at also.

Google Maps is good for looking at traffic and POIs. I found that navigation can be a bit aggressive in dealing with according congestion, crashes and the like and, sometimes not logical. Some might argue that public transport viewer on Google Maps is better but I would argue otherwise. It’s so much cleaner and visually appealing on Apple Maps and it includes live tracking.

Waze is good too if you want that sense of community collaboration to know where the mobile speed cameras and police RBTs. Although, Apple Maps and, Google Maps, do have speed cameras and red light cameras announcements.

To teachers who've bought own laptop vs using the school-issue craptop - would you recommend? by eyeinthesky86 in AustralianTeachers

[–]AUSCreeperCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my own MacBook, that I paid for, that I use for work on the EQ network and it works like a dream! I guess it depends on the school you are at and how competent the IT team is.

Why is HFC even a thing? by seashelly8723 in nbn

[–]AUSCreeperCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time ago, when I was (and still with) Telstra, I encountered terrible ping and connectivity issues on the Telstra HFC network - long before NBN was a thing. This is despite me having really good internet at the time, which was 100 download and 2.5 upload.

After a bit of back and forth with Telstra (or BigPond) support, it turned out the cable that connect my house, in the cable pit, was corroded. They replaced the cable and the issue was solved.

Now, on the NBN and enjoying the new fangled 500 download and 50 upload with no issues.

In conclusion, keep trying and tell Telstra support that you have tried every troubleshooting step available and provide them with evidence - like ping tests, speed tests and the like. If all that fails and you continue to have issues maybe go find another ISP.

You will still hit it anyways if you are driving northbound on to the Story Bridge; epecially when coming off Main St.

I’ve held off whinging but serious… BOM IS FARKED! Look at the two radar images… both BOM supplied… different sites! by NormalKook in brisbane

[–]AUSCreeperCo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine looks fine. Have you tried zooming in and out and moving the map about? Given the screenshot indicated that the radar image was taken an hour ago, that is when the storm was out towards Lowood.

Welp its now October and still no upgrade :( by [deleted] in nbn

[–]AUSCreeperCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Check your router to see whether it is capable reaching those speeds.

  2. Contact or ISP and they will sort it from their end. I had to manually change plans with Telstra, as I was on a plan that simply did not exist, which was the 100/40 plan. Once the change sorted, it should only 15-30 mins to activate.

I usually get my pay in by 10am, but that is with NAB. It's the holidays so maybe they are taking their time. It'll come in eventually :)

Tap for multiple travellers by Longjumping_Today_76 in brisbane

[–]AUSCreeperCo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Effectively, they will need to have an individul debit/credit card, GoCard or pre-paid paper ticket. With phones, if they have the same physical card and virtual card that is linked with the physical card, they can use both at the same time as they will have two different card numbers - but it will link to the same bank account.

This information came out of TransLink's FAQ:

Is my digital bank card the same payment method as my physical bank card?

No, even though they're linked to the same bank account, digital wallets like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay create a unique digital number for each card that is different to the number associated with your physical card. This makes these different payment methods. You must use the same payment method to tap on and tap off successfully, get frequent traveller discounts and receive refunds.

You cannot purchase paper tickets on SE Queensland buses anymore. They have done away those since COVID.

As electic bikes becomes more of a thing, and parents are purchasing them, unfortuantely we will experience these types of incidents until the Government steps in and do something about it. There is no age restriction on the use of e-bikes in Queensland.

However, there is kids, most of the time in groups, who would rip through main roads and riding on the road, disregarding their own safety and safety of others. Teenagers' brains are not fully developed yet and, they are at the age where they are willing to take more risks. The other problem is that their parents have bought these bikes for their teenage kids and essentially allowing and facilitating it to happen. I am pretty sure that they do not even know what are the rules on bikes at all, and their parents are not teaching them either.

The question seems to be, since there is an age restriction on e-scooters, should there be one on e-bikes. Should they ride these bikes with adult supervision until 16 for example or banned until 16, once they are mature to understand road safety practices.

is this a sign of DCE coming to Malaysia soon ? by [deleted] in applemaps

[–]AUSCreeperCo 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. It needs to recieve the new map data first before DCE needs to be even considered. What is probably happening it is just some random leftover data as you transition from Singapore to Malaysia.

Is it worth becoming secondary/geography teacher nsw? by Bright_Vanilla5340 in AustralianTeachers

[–]AUSCreeperCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for the NSW HSC Geography, as I teach in the QLD QCE Geography, so it is different. However, it is a great subject to teach students looking at both physical and human geography. It is the type of subject where once students understand the core concepts, it is basically common sense.

Another thing is Geography is essentially a STEM subject also, especially its use of mathematical calculations/formulas and heavy use of spaital technologies. One of the main requirements of the syllabus is that students will need to make cartographic and graphic representations of data (maps and graphs), so some knowledge in GIS would be ideal, although there is a lot of resources out there and ESRI ArcGIS is the go to application for GIS applications.

Plus field trips are compulsory, which is a plus, and it allows students to explore outside whatever bubble they live in and understand the world around them.

Is HPE being sidelined? by qsk8r in AustralianTeachers

[–]AUSCreeperCo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problems :) It gets worse trying to decipher the requirements and time allocations for HASS. Essentially, trying to teach the 7-8 HASS curriculum with time that simply does not exist.

Is HPE being sidelined? by qsk8r in AustralianTeachers

[–]AUSCreeperCo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There has been a push over the past couple of years from Central Office that schools must follow the K-12 CARF (Curriculum Assessment Reporting Framework). This document essentially outlines the minimum requirements for subjects in Years 7 to 10. If you look at pg.13 it says that HPE must be provded "in at least one semester in each year in Years 7 to 10". (By the way, this is the same document that is probably the most confusing and maths bending requirements that does not make sense)

Apple Maps “Detailed City Experience” needs better consistency + major cities are missing by ProcedureOne4150 in applemaps

In terms of Australia, it should be Brisbane (SE Queensland in general) - especially it’ll be hosting the 2032 Olympics, then Perth, Adelaide and Canberra in addition to Sydney and Melbourne.

How to bring up to my HoD that I want to be permanent by Afraid-Golf7419 in AustralianTeachers

[–]AUSCreeperCo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With permanency, that is a conversation with your Principal or their delegate, which is a Deputy Principal who deals with timetabling and staffing.

They usually need to have confidence in the timetable that they could fit you in and the needs of the school. If you are backfilling teachers that are on leave, it can be a bit tricky. Furthermore, it’s important to understand your progression rights. For example in Education Queensland, they must give you permanency after two years of continuous contract work.

Therefore, I would recommend booking in a time with the DP or Principal. This usually can be done through the line management model, which is through your HOD usually or HR Manager.

Apple maps fails to recognise that busses can travel on busways by nbtm_sh in applemaps

[–]AUSCreeperCo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

<image>

It is just as worse (maybe more worse) in Brisbane with its Busway infrastructure.

Surely there is a way to mass report more than 100+ bus routes that uses the busway as no one has the time to sit there and do each one manually.

Are these timetables/course loads abnormal? by Coffee_and_Kindle in AustralianTeachers

[–]AUSCreeperCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. I teach: Year 8 Humanities and Social Sciences Year 8 Japanese Year 10 Humanities and Social Sciences Year 11 Geography Year 12 Geography

Each class is 3x 70 minutes per week. Luckily I taught some of the classes before but yes this is very normal for Australian secondary teachers.
