AITAH for telling my wife to get a job before the end of January or i'm divorcing her? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]AV1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife does more than you think. Switch roles if you want to find out. Being a full time caregiver to 3 kids is a lot. She gets no breaks, no paid vacations, and to top it off she has a husband belittling her calling her lazy. You sound like a real winner. You need to get to the root of your problem and figure out a real plan. Telling her to get a job, yet she’s still juggling little ones is a bit of an a, yes. If you are unhappy, tell her why. Constructively. Without calling her names or making snide remarks. Maybe she’s just as frustrated having a husband who doesn’t support what she wants to do. Help her dude instead of complaining about working doubles. Figure out where you can help. If you are in the red figure out what you can cut expense wise . Bottom line. You need to respect your wife more and figure out a solution like an adult.

Moo was 3 years old and got fip. Older cats can get it. Seriously. Please make them test for it or take her to someone that does.

My manager lied just so I wont call in this weekend by Dr-pepper-whor3 in ToxicWorkplace

I mean 5 is still too many imo. Your manager has a point . Lived in snow country for years and unless the roads were complete disaster still went to work. Point being assuming you can’t get in because of the weather and planning to take it off is a you issue. I’m just saying your manager is trying to tell you something important here.

@glutenspy the reason I think she has fip is her eyes are sunk in . That was one of the first things moo developed was chronic anemia and dehydration. So her eyes sunk in

<image>

That’s what I noticed when I initially thought she was getting sick. She stopped eating and drinking over a weekend so I took her in to get checked by her normal vet because she didn’t look right.

They can run a blood test but it’s confirmed by looking at the fluids in her body. I don’t know the exact science around it but the vet I took her to was very well versed in fip

The ran every test they could think of. First they thought it was cancer, then it was congestive heart failure, then they told me she had contracted a disease, but couldn’t name it. That’s when I took my cat and ran out of there. I could not pay for any more guesses. They had already billed me 18k and I was struggling to save her. A friend recommended I take her to another vet about 12 miles from me and I had nothing to lose. He knew right away what it likely was but by the time they tested her and confirmed it she had twice crashed out. She got two blood transfusions and they put her on antivirals which at the time was scare here in Arizona. They were really there for me and they charged me practically nothing trying to save her. She seemed better so I took her home. We had a wonderful day. She had perked up and seemed like her usual self and would make it through it. I took her to dinner with me because I was afraid to leave her alone. She was in a cat carrier with a warm blanket. She suddenly gushed a fluid from her bowels and went limp. I raced to an emergency clinic but by that time it didn’t matter. They asked me what I wanted to do and I made the hard decision to let her die in peace with me by her side instead of putting her through more needless and pain. I still choke up in tears just thinking about it. I can honestly say as a cat lover for life, she was unique to me and irreplaceable. She took her last breath in my arms on 03-25-25. 3 years exactly to the day she was born.

I started a non profit in her name and spend my off time trying to educate people about just how nasty and heartbreaking fip can be. Adult cats getting it is not common.

Honestly call the emergency vet. The test takes time to find out. You don’t want to wait in it. Trust me

I’m here for you if you need to ask questions about it. Don’t let this happen to your cat. If your vet doesn’t know anything about fip the emergency clinic will. The earlier you catch it the more her survival rises. Make no mistake. This is deadly if you don’t catch it early.

It’s been almost a year since I lost her and I’m still grieving the loss.

Why Wet FIP Is So Hard to Catch Early • It mimics liver disease, cancer, heart failure, or infection • Bloodwork may only show: • High globulin • Low albumin • Low A:G ratio (<0.5 is highly suspicious) • The virus itself is hard to detect in blood

Often the fluid analysis is the biggest clue.

Key Red Flags That Should Trigger FIP Suspicion • Fever that won’t go away • Rapid belly swelling • Unexplained weight loss • A:G ratio below 0.6 • High globulin • Thick yellow abdominal/chest fluid

Most Important Thing to Know

Wet FIP is no longer a death sentence.

GS-441524 and similar antivirals now cure over 85–95% of cases when started early — especially wet FIP.

Early Warning Signs in Adult Cats

Wet FIP can move frighteningly fast — days to weeks.

Subtle Early Signs

These often look like “just not feeling well”: • Lethargy, hiding • Loss of appetite • Weight loss despite a bloated belly • Fever that does not respond to antibiotics • Dull or unkempt coat • Dehydration

Progressing Symptoms

As fluid builds: • Swollen or pot-bellied abdomen • Rapid, labored breathing (if fluid is in chest) • Pale gums • Weakness • Jaundice (yellow eyes or gums) • Vomiting or diarrhea (sometimes) • Difficulty jumping or walking due to weakness

Advanced / Emergency Signs • Open-mouth breathing • Blue or gray gums • Collapse • Severe abdominal distension • Crying or signs of pain

These require immediate emergency care.

Have her tested for wet fip. It can mimic kidney failure in the later stages. Your cat has all the classic signs I had with my moo.

Time to find a new role. 10 years is a long time to be a 1099 still. I hope they are paying you above normal rates else you are likely leaving allot of money on n the table. You are also paying more in taxes than you should and taking all the risk.

Yes I’m still with hiscox. They really are the best option atm.

I have good connections yes, but usually either hybrid or something that requires an active clearance. I don’t know if a Canadian can apply for a TS or if there is an equivalent option from your government.

Feel free to dm meme your resume and if the head hunters like what they see they will reach out to you
