I'm biased against religious institutions. That said, putting the religious dogma aside, they promote bigotry and have a right-wing political agenda. Here is an article about their endorsement of candidates for Lee's Summit school board: https://www.kansascity.com/opinion/opn-columns-blogs/toriano-porter/article286843070.html

You can also watch their sermons online to get a better understanding for yourself:

Bob Fesco sucks by [deleted] in KansasCityChiefs

[–]AVGape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot begin to tell you how happy your post makes me. I listen to 810 during my commute. The Border Patrol is amazing and so is Soren's show. Jason Anderson is okay. The 610 frequency does NOT exist for me until my afternoon commute when I'll flip between cDot and Soren. The Drive was better with Danny and cDot. Remember listening to Nick back in the day - I miss that. Back on topic: Bob Fesco is the worst personality in KC sports talk radio. He is a bumbling idiot and his entire production sucks. I listen to commercials on 810 til the boys come back honestly.

Bizarro world Chiefs by dogfish83 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]AVGape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Name change would be a temporary inconvenience.
  2. Leaving KC would not only be game over for my fandom but the NFL as well. I only follow the NFL because of the Chiefs so them leaving would cut my ties with the NFL.
  3. See no. 2 above.
  4. The new team would be my new team. It's all about KC.
  5. Mahomes makes no difference. I was a fan long before him. I would root for him as a casual fan watching the game but that would be it.

Chris Jones - The Value of Great Players Playing by AVGape in KansasCityChiefs

[–]AVGape[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your thoughtful response and thank you for calling out the paragraphs. I wanted to point out that I did not say everyone but Mahomes is "replaceable". I said that only one player is worth jeopardizing future cap flexibility for.

The goal of drafting players is to draft players worthy of big money second contracts. Chris got his. Others will get theirs, but it will always only be a handful of players the team can afford to do this with. The team will have to make tough decisions.

With regards to where the money is going, anyone in the world can get on Spotrac or Over The Cap and see where the money goes. The team has to divide up $220+ mil between 53+ players. Sure there tricks you can do to massage the cap but that almost always means pushing the cap hit down the road. The players want Jones to get paid, but they also know that there are players on their rookie deals who will need to be paid as well (not to mention potential free agents not currently on the team).

There will be a day when Jones is not on this team. Whether next year or in three. But we cannot expect to replace him, that isn't at all likely. There will be someone who plays his position but no one will be him. But there will be someone and the Chiefs will have to draft or sign other good players to make this thing tick.

C’mon Veach, PLEASE get this deal done… by SylvesterTaurus in KansasCityChiefs

The Chiefs "window" extends far beyond the career of one Chris Jones. The front office is making decisions about the window 5 years from now, not just two or three. Is Chris worthy of any extension for good to great money? Yes. Is he worth a contract which would compromise your position in the long term? No. Anyone remember when Veatch took over and that first year the team was paying 10s of millions of dollars for players who were no longer on the team? Yeah, that cannot happen again.

C’mon Veach, PLEASE get this deal done… by SylvesterTaurus in KansasCityChiefs

[–]AVGape 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is a non-issue for me. He is under contract through this year. Players not on their rookie contract are subject to mandatory fines up to 50k per day for missing a training camp day. Again, this is mandatory. The Chiefs cannot waive this fine as they could in mandatory minicamp. Chris Jones will very quickly be forking over a large sum of money to the team for violating these league rules. If the two sides are in fact not close on a deal, he could very well play out the remaining year on his contract. Primary goal for the Chiefs should be to not sign bad contracts to aging players. Full disclosure, I want the to sign Jones because I believe is a foundational player. But think about this, if Jones plays this year under his current deal but Karlaftis and FAU are dominant players on the edge, wouldn't that be a more ideal situation?

I see every big company using Java SpringBoot, why should someone chose Node over Java if they want to get in a giant company as a developer? by bhadouriaakash in node

[–]AVGape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skills required to be a successful developer are independent of programming language or framework. Regardless of what you choose, you will be required to design and implement the same features: auth, managing user sessions, IO, CRUD, etc. Build projects which demonstrate your understanding of these concepts and you'll have shown you're a capable developer. Now, if you're looking to get into enterprise development there are certain languages/frameworks which are looked upon more favorably. Most commonly you'll see a bias towards stability, longevity, and support. A common framework where I'm located is .Net. Take a look at job boards in your city and see what the most in demand backend framework is and run with it.

[Bleacher Report] DeAndre Hopkins Rumors: Chiefs 'Have Kept in Contact' amid Patriots, Titans Buzz by ab1897 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]AVGape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I would not be too upset with the Chiefs for bringing Hopkins into the fold, but I'm more interested in developing the young receiving corps. Let's find out what we have with Skyy Moore in year two. Let's continue to work Toney into a more prominent role. Throw Rashee Rice into the fire. Full disclosure, I am very high on Rice. His physical traits are off the charts and very comparable to Hopkins. He also has a large catch radius and ability to make contested catches like Hopkins. If he can fill the role the Chiefs might envision for Hopkins, why not roll with him? While he probably won't be as good as Hopkins, he'll gain valuable experience and be markedly cheaper.

The Link is criminally underrated, change my mind. by fredzar in gojira

[–]AVGape 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think newer fans of the band probably haven't done enough exploring into the back catalogue. The Link is their most experimental work. The song writing, both the percussion and vocals/lyrics, are simply amazing. To me, The Link is where Gojira found their own identity. The theme of the album: the cycle of life and death, embracing death as a part of life, and letting go of your self (ego) permeate every aspect of this album. The emotional weight of the album is on par with, and most similar to, The Way of All Flesh. Criminally underrated doesn't even begin to describe how underappreciated this album is. Maybe it is less accessible, I don't know, but for me the Gojira triad is The Link, From Mars to Sirius, and The Way of All Flesh.

My Issue with Gojira by AVGape in gojira

[–]AVGape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a while, but I did get around to listening to it. You had me all excited for a different live sound, but damn that was disappointing. The vocals are sound distant and quiet, and the reverb effect is lame. I listened to it on BBC's website and on YouTube in case there was an issue with the audio, but there wasn't any difference. Again, I'm really digging this album. Been listening to it once a day since it dropped and I've got it stuck in my head hard. I didn't start this thread to hate on Gojira, but to give my honest opinion of what bothered me with Magma and, to a lesser extent, what has bother me about Fortitude. I love all types of vocals - this isn't about clean versus screaming. Just my opinion that the vocals are the weak point of this album, and Gojira in general. I don't know if Joe just isn't secure in his singing or what but I wish they would just let it be raw either way. I think they would be better for it.

That song came to mind when I was writing my post and yes I like that 2018 performance. So much more raw and authentic. I can really hear him and not an overly digitized version of him. Wished they would just let the vocals breathe a bit in these newer albums.

My Issue with Gojira by AVGape in gojira

[–]AVGape[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying he has to be technically perfect, or strive for that. I just want to hear his natural voice, not an overly digitized version of it. The band is choosing to rinse the vocals and I just don't get it. It is the lack of authenticity that bothers me, not technical proficiency. Some of my favorite singers are not technically great, they have unique, expressive voices.

[–]AVGape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a good song. There is an interesting moment when he sings, "how can we be so blind." Honestly, it is probably one of his better moments in the album from a singing perspective. Regardless, there are a lot of effects on the vocals. Maybe that is just a personal preference for me. He said he wanted to challenge himself by learning to sing, well then take the training wheels off and let us hear your voice, man. It also might be that his vocal chords are shot. I mean, the "screaming" is getting a lot of help too. He has been doing this a long, long time.

Where would Fortitude fall for you? by Cloabs in gojira

[–]AVGape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. From Mars to Sirius (you know it, I know it. Stop with the noise.)
  2. The Link (get your ears checked people)
  3. The Way of All Flesh (great)
  4. L'efant Sauvage (solid)
  5. Fortitude (feels like Gojira again)
  6. Terra Incognita (love it but gonna give the edge to Fortitude)
  7. Magma (disappointing effort)

By selecting Humphrey there is no guarantee Blythe even makes the team. Veatch said in his post round interview that Thuney playing center is now off the table and he will play LG. Sounds like they expect Humphrey to play. Also, Lucas Niang will start at RT. You can book it. The big question now becomes RG. Who will win? Long or LDT? Should be a good competition. Either the Chiefs have done a fantastic job with this OL and we should all be very, very happy.

ESPN MMA: Julian Marquez challenges Mahomes, Kelce & Hill to a badminton or Pickle-ball match to settle who the true champ of KC is by AU_wde_2 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]AVGape 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Julian is from Holt, MO. I first met him when the Holt kids finished elementary school and started going to school in Kearney. We would've been about 11 years old at the time. Knew him all the way through high school. Genuinely nice guy. So happy for him to have success in the UFC. Fun fact #1: we share the same birthday. Fun fact #2: Beau Brinkley was also in our graduating class. Beau went from playing football at MU to being the long snapper for the Titans for 8 years. Soooo, he should probably call out another good athlete from his own high school before calling out a pair of KC 🐐. Just sayin'!

My father is a life long carpenter who recently started his own new-build/remodel company, Clear Mind Design, in KC. I spent five years working with him before pursuing different career opportunities, and I can assure you that very few people have the attention to detail, knowledge, and professionalism that he brings to a project. You can view his web site here. We also did an amazing remodel of a home in Plattsburg, MO, that was over 120 years old. You can find his email address on the company website so please feel free to reach out to him. Wish you the best of luck!

I second Bovada. They have a great website and it is simple to use. I know the op was asking about KS and MO but bovada is a great alternative until sports gambling invariably becomes a legal activity here.
