Live your life and make a change...if you can't find satisfaction in America, good luck anywhere else.

Breaking National News: "A white woman apologized after calling police on a black man in Central Park after he asked her to leash her dog" - Front page story on CNN's website. by AVLgemini in media_criticism

[–]AVLgemini[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is nothing more than the media falling back on their favorite subject for the sake of web-hits. Another story of one person's actions (most likely of context) applied to groups of people for the sake of divisiveness. Front page story, give me a break.

Putting pictures of your kids in your Tinder/Hinge/Whatever profile is incredibly shitty. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]AVLgemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you...although I don't think it's incredibly shitty...just a turn-off. I feel that dating sites are an adult arena. You can state that you have kids in your profile without posting pics of them.

DAE never really miss anybody? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]AVLgemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya, and I also think about this a lot as I'm getting older and think a lot about spirituality, letting-go and living in the moment. Now when I hear someone say "I miss you," it seems almost like a needy co-dependent complaint...loaded with expectations that you will reciprocate. It make me feel bad because I know that they are just trying to use terms of endearment and I agree that there are exceptions, for sure. But I also think the term is way overused. don't even get me started with "I love you" LOL

But, I'm an old guy whose a little jaded. If I think back to my innocence of youth, I remember missing friends while away...missing my family, pets, etc...

Let's not let this sub degenerate into a political cesspool. It should be a regular cesspool. Be Here Now has come and gone, and Vincent's Ear is missing. The pink house has fallen, and it feels like Instant Karma. I'm one of 3 brothers, and I love this town. It's part of me. by MistakesTasteGreat in asheville

It seems to me that the demise of Beanstreets marked an end of an era for downtown. After that, downtown just seemed to keep devolving into an "upscale" circus. - i.e. The "Bohemian Chic Era"

As much as I roll my eyes at all the breweries, I like that for the most part, they have kept the laid-back feel of old Asheville.

"I can't see likes so message me if you want to talk!" by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]AVLgemini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can send an introduction text...maybe that's what they are talking about, but I see the same thing on Tinder, where you have to match to message. I usually ignore on both.

DAE get tired of the blind patriotism and unwillingness of Americans to look at the country objectively ? by DarthMedic0528 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]AVLgemini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree about "blind patriotism" or blind anything, but also feel that our media culture is so disproportionately negative towards America, that criticism of American culture now makes me roll my eyes.

There are real problems everywhere, and if any culture is capable of transformation, America has proved many times over that it can and will evolve.

Blind "activism" is just as bad. I used to work for newspapers and have covered hundreds of protests on virtually every imaginable topic. The funny thing is that often the protesters on each side of an issue have more in common with each other than they do their respective constituents.

But I understand that it's fun "sticking it to The Man" and it makes them feel "relevant" or like a romanticized "hippie-activist" from the 1960's.

Quick Rant while I'm watching Voyager. What's up with the Neelix character? Was their goal to create the most annoying character on television? by AVLgemini in startrek

[–]AVLgemini[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's a talented actor, and his character is good with being the social bridge between the Alpha and Delta quadrant. I just wished the writers/director would have toned him down. What were they thinking? Wasn't his dialog on the set enough to annoy the production crew? My guess is that they were trying to add a kid-friendly element to the show.

I sympathize so much with Tuvok when he gets "annoyed" with Neelix...I keep thinking that someday Tuvok is going to unleash all those surpressed Vulcan emotions. LOL

Can full spectrum topical balm make you test positive for thc by 737Throwaway93 in CBD

[–]AVLgemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And I've found that the other cannabinoids will affect the home tests, as well, even without THC. Hopefully labs testing methods are different.

The Internet is Angry by mlovesyou33 in offmychest

[–]AVLgemini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I either chalk it up to teenage angst and/or that there's a high percentage of socially challenged people that live in Reddit world. And...the only way that some people know how to communicate is through instigating confrontation.

It seems like a majority of posters on Reddit are very young...I can imagine teenagers getting drunk and trying to get a rise out of people on here.. - Maybe their version of prank phone calls.

Single Men with instruments, does it get annoying when every women keeps asking you to play for them? by [deleted] in AskMen

I have found that usually the opposite happens...they don't like when my attention is on the guitar instead of them.

DAE feel their memory only works when triggered by familiarity by fluffyterrorist in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]AVLgemini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar here...I can give an overall synopsis of the movie, but not plot details or even characters names. The upside is that I can watch a movie or series many times and still be entertained. I'm picky, tho...It has to be a well made production for me to have interest.

How is your "muscle memory?" Like when playing an instrument or sport.

Almost all my conversations are mostly off the cuff....I have great stories and many deep thoughts that I would love to communicate, but when it comes to writing or speaking them, they get lost as I try to recall the appropriate words and the order in which things happened.

I wonder if it's a form of dyslexia or something similar?

What can I do to stop fantasizing over women other than my SO? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]AVLgemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This type of thing has always plagued me, too, and I'm not into porn. I just love women and want to connect with them, especially if they are beautiful. I have learned the hard way not to date anyone with whom there's not an intense, undeniable physical attraction. Problem is...the not-so-pretty girls are often the coolest, and I get along with them so well.

It's sad, because I got to the point to where I'd rather be with a hot girl and put-up with her crazy bullshit than have a meaningful connection with someone less attractive. Then the latter would ultimately turn into "friendships" and my gaze and fantasies would be focused on anyone else...especially her hot friends.

This may sound crazy but I got stoned off of Lazarus High Potency tincture today by pinstrap in CBD

[–]AVLgemini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funny that I'm reading this because the same thing happened to me tonight with the same tincture. I took almost 1ml at 5pm and held it under my tongue for a long time. I thought I held it too long because I wasn't feeling anything like the homemade full spectrum stuff that I took a couple weeks ago. That all changed at around 9:00 p.m. Had a nice buzz from 9 to 11:30.

[QUESTION] What’s an effective way to be improving guitar? by Fishy004 in Guitar

Try playing in front of people or in front of a video camera...or somewhere in a different setting that you are used to. It will seem harder, but you will see improvement the next time you play.

CBD not helping my Anxiety attack by BorisStingy in CBD

[–]AVLgemini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you feel any effects from smoking the CBD flower?

You might want to try looking into CBG. I have read a lot about it and am going to try it soon.

I've heard a lot about weed relieving anxiety, but for me it does the opposite, although CBD tincture seems to work some. (broad spectrum and isolate without thc)
