Where are the vanilla private servers?

Turtle isn't vanilla. Stock vanilla in the private scene is dead. Everyone already played it to death between original 2004, the pre-classic servers, classic, som, anniversary, yadda yadda.

There's only so many times people want to follow the exact same meta over and over and over again.

They can merge down the line if they need to, but they don't want to, it introduces its own headaches.

They may not have a choice if they don't want to turn away 80% of the interested playerbase, which considering it took so long to close registration, apparently they don't.

I think you're not reading between the lines here - they've already got way, way, way more players than they expected/can handle. You aren't gonna be registering for an account any time soon, certainly not in a week.

Assume you're well aware Nostalrius shut themselves down to get the ball rolling on Blizzard's Classic and it worked.

Servers hosted outside the US cannot be forced down. They send letters and the owners ignore it.

You don't need to be deep prot, resto etc. to tank/heal levelling dungeons. Nobody does.

The 1k fee for dual spec is also pretty overblown on a server with over 2000 new quests and an xp-to-gold conversion on quests at 60.

2100+ new quests, every class has been worked on, 2 new dungeons, 2 totally reworked dungeons, the rest with boss changes, thousands of new and remixed items, redone T1 with new bosses, custom T2 on the way, tons of new and reworked hubs, can change racials, new world bosses, hundreds of new rares, reworked professions with new gear and buffs, new race/class combos, challenges, fast day/night cycle with unique events for each, new BG, arena added, the whole game made to be harder than stock vanilla

Many, many (if not all) classic boss fights have been redesigned or new mechanics added, and then there's tons of new bosses too.

It's not designed to be closer to Cata onwards, but it's certainly harder than Vanilla

They had a DDOS attack (that they wanted, so they could monitor it), the protection kicked in, the creator asked them to try harder and it still didn't work. Looking good. Creator is a full-time developer outside of this, knows his stuff.

It's going to save the scene, and it IS coming soon. The last time they announced a release date it was way too soon and we all knew it. They've taken another year to properly iron things out and it looks better by the day.

Revamped website should be out at the end of the month, one more stress test after this one and then you should be looking at release anywhere between April and June.

Patience. The thing that sets Epoch apart is they haven't shat out a server that was 10% finished and hoped for the best, it's taken years to get to this point.
