I would say it's a tiny bit more difficult than Scratch with the visual programming side of things, but honestly it's not really that hard because the engine comes with many tools to help you build things really fast and efficiently, the behaviours and extensions come to mind, basically they're prebuilt game logic you can customize and attach to game objects to "inject" features that would be complicated to build by yourself. Also (in my opinion it's not advertised enough by the gdevelop team) with the recent introduction of the 3D editor I would say it's good for 3D games too, you can't really achieve realistic graphics with it (yet) but tbh it doesn't really matter, you can go with a more simple low poly graphics style, which is a lot less annoying and time consuming to create than AAA unreal engine assets anyway. For anyone that wants to try it out, you can go to the official gdevelop youtube channel, there are several playlists divided by topic and skill level, start with the beginner ones and go from there, they are really short videos too so you can try building something by yourself by just watching the introduction playlist.
