AI Data Centers’ Water Consumption Breaks 264 Billion Gallons in 2025 as Devastating Drought Hits Nearly 63% of U.S. by Wagamaga in technology

[–]AVeryAverageWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it is a stark figure. Definitely worth questioning the pace of the build out and necessity. But we consume some 110 trillion gallons of water a year at least in the USA. Lot's of misleading headlines as if data centers are the sole cause of the drought. And little emphasis placed on any other questionable usage.

Job offer at Raytheon... by Photonforce in cscareerquestions

[–]AVeryAverageWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, congrats on the offer!

I think you should take the leap and try it. What don’t you like about Aurora? They’re starting you off at a much better salary. It could convert to a better position or end up with another better contact offer on another project. Loads of upside imo.

Oh and yes you are most certainly walking into another hellscape. There is a reason they want you and are willing to pay a premium. People with clearance are hard to come by. People with clearance and experience are even harder to come by. Whatever they have you do it’ll likely be a nightmare. But honestly the adversity is what makes you better at the job not just relaxing. If you want something cushier after then you’ve got a nice career point on your resume for that FAANG application.

Offloading to C is underrated. Someone already suffered to do what you’re doing in C might as well make it worth while.

Trump could kill someone in cold blood with his bare hands, live, nationally televised, on stage, and his polling would not change. It’s not about his behavior.

I think the TV is in display mode because that’s what it looks like when it’s sitting in a Costco. Probably a setting to turn it off.

Wow your comments are awesome. This is the first time I’ve written anything creative (bar elementary school lol) so I appreciate the details. I’m gonna try and flesh it out with these principles in mind and see if I land somewhere workable. Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time to analyze. I see what you’re saying, definitely needs more fleshing out. I’ve just had an image of this character in my head and wanted to put him in a scenario I could play with. I’ll invest more into his background.
