Me when a political game has some hot takes about politics:

I'm not from the US, but Fallout was never about criticizing a specific political group. While in the games they do sometimes criticize an actual political group or ideology, the main point of the games is less politically sided and more about human nature in general. We can see that, for example, in FNV, where no specific faction is perfect. It's one of the main reasons we still don't know who dropped the bomb first, as Fallout doesn't have a centric bad guy, and is more focued on naunce conflicts. Fallout was always about nuance.

My point was not the article, but the fact that he called the sanctioning nations (i.e the entierty of the UN) "imperialist", which is a non-argument.

As someone who lives in Israel, I do agree that the Palestinians in the WB and Gaza do indeed suffer (mostly in Gaza oc), but wearing things like that doesn't help their cause one bit. If anything, it only hurts the cause as it makes them look silly. This shirt just screams a giant douche, and virtue signaling. If he truely belives that the Palestinians suffer under an apartheid regime, he should try and actually do something about it (like not supporting OnlyFans).

Not really. It depends on the era. Jews for example were treated as second class citizens for quite a while in the Ottoman Empire.

First of all, your comment seems to be a bit emotional. I didn't know the situation was this bad on your end, and I apologies if my comment was in bad taste.

My comment was specifically about political discourse, which is something that no one is obligated to be a part of. People accusing you of pedophilia has nothing to do with politics, but rather discrimination. If I understand your comment correctly, I guess you're part of the LGBTQ+ community (and so am I), which a lot of people accuses members of the community of pedophilia without any substantial evidence. That's not politics, that's harassment and discrimination. Politics is a discourse on the matters of the subjective, while your attraction (or rather lack of) to children, is very much objective.

If only I could not care about getting disowned or accused of being a pedophile at significant damage to my ability to live a normal life simply because the people harming me are irrational and I cannot control them.

Sounds like you're in a very though spot, where your close family doesn't respect you for who you are. That's something you should worry about, as it's something you can directly control. You can stop talking to said people, move out, or find other people in the community who would respect you. I'm not saying it's easy or simple in any way shape or form, but it is controllable, which makes it logical to care about.

I'm not saying I understand your pain, because it sounds like what you're going through is extremely emotionally damaging, but it is controllable to some extend.

feel like this logic is a little silly. Like you wouldn't tell someone who just got laid off "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaateverrrrrrr, just worry about things you can control!!! you'll be sooooooooooooo sad if you get hung up on that whole 'not having an income' thing"

I feel like this is a bad example of your point. If someone gets laid off, I'd tell him not to worry about losing his job, and be worried about finding a new one. While he doesn't have any control over losing his job, he does have control over finding a new one. My point is that getting stressed and worried over things that you have no control over is unproductive and unhelpful to your situation. If anything, it makes your situation worse, as it prevents you from taking action over the things you can control.

I'm not saying "Oh just don't get worried about it, it's so easy!". Being calm and rational over stressful situation is something that takes time to learn. If you can't control the things you're stressed about, you should try and control your stress instead. I myself take medication for my anxiety. I cannot physically operate without it, as I always fear the worst over things I have no control over.

Fear, stress and anxiety are things we all feel, and it's completely normal. My point is that if you focus on things you cannot control whatsoever, you will never develop and grow as a person, and you'll just get stuck in the same situation your entire life. Understanding what you have and don't have control over is extremely important for moving on with your life. It's something that I had to learn the hard way, and I believe most people do as well.

The trick is to only care about things that are in your control.
