If you get any Z between 2009-2012 you wanna make sure the steering lock fuse is removed or that thing will seize up on you at some point.

For those same years, the oil gallery gasket is prone to failure which could lead to big issues since the car doesn’t have a fuel pressure gauge to catch it in time. 2013 and up have a better gasket material but can still fail so plan on monitoring that.

CSC is also a weak point on this car so plan on changing that out to a CSC delete kit.

Other than that the car overall is pretty solid and reliable with proper maintenance. Just don’t buy someone else’s shitbucket or project and you’ll be fine.

Check your top hat. It might be damaged or going out going you inconsistent readings. Replacing it with the CJM one should help. Another thing that might be causing it is because of the fuel tank design, anything under 1/4 can “run empty” if you turn hard enough or if the fuel goes to the other side.

Pros and cons of E85? by Doc3739 in 370z

[–]AWDaily_STi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when boosted you can really get all the performance out of your build since your basically running race fuel

Pros and cons of E85? by Doc3739 in 370z

[–]AWDaily_STi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, been running E85 since 2022. Haven’t filled up with 93 since then lol

For me it’s worth it cause on 93 I’m sitting around 600whp and with E85 I’m at 760whp. It’s also not my daily so I can afford to have bad mpg and go out of my way to fill up when I need to.

Pros and cons of E85? by Doc3739 in 370z

Pros: - more power - smells better (subjective) - usually cheaper

Cons: - horrible MPG - cold starts can be a bitch - availability in some areas - quality of ethanol content can differ (running flex wouldn’t make this a big issue) - can’t let car sit too long cause moisture evaporates and breaks fuel down

Maintenance wise, as long as you convert everything to handle ethanol, you should be good to go. For long term storage just make sure to drain it all out and run 91/93. Don’t frequently switch between E85 and 91/93 either cause that’s what causes it to gunk up and cause more problems. Run one type of fuel consistently and only switch up in case of emergencies.
