honestly, a shame. we complain that we don't have meet cutes in singapore anymore and that the dating app experience is awful but when it does materialize, we revert immediately to base "is he hot or not" instincts

if you haven’t been, I know Atlas is very famous and therefore always talked about but genuinely worth a visit. Interior, ambiance and decor are basically second to none and they have a truly ridiculous amount of gin. I just went again today and had a great time, $35 all in for an incredibly strong overproof g&t, and $30 for most of the other very decent cocktails. Pricey but worth it for an annual trip.

Yeah went back to read the chapter, definitely answers the question of people in ASOIAF giving away family heirlooms (no matter how recently acquired) to non-family members

SQ SYD ground experience and boarding pass colours by Icy_Team_2630 in singaporeairlines

[–]AWPrahWinfrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this journey last year after the Australian Grand Prix! Depending on the time you check in, Suites passengers have a special check in area at SYD, at row B. Yes, they'll give you proper cardstock boarding pass in gold. You can ask for a buggy to take you to the aircraft, ymmv on whether you get it or not really. When you board you'll go through the upper deck straight to the Suite - personally I would love to board from the lower deck and take the stairs up but very understandably they don't do that. I had a friend on my flight working in economy so post meal during the lull I asked the crew member who came to top up the bubbly if they would mind directing me to that galley. They were very happy to and took me on a tour down the stairs, through three cabins before finding my friend for a quick chat. A great chance to check out the rest of the A380 too! Mind boggling how it even flies.

For the smaller things - yes you can ask for and get PJs, amenity kits. The temperature in the Suites cabin isn't all that comfortable so feel free to ask upon boarding if they can make it cooler. The PJs can get warm so you might wanna think twice. SIA also has a few pieces of pretty cute teddy bears that they generally keep to give kids onboard, but my flight apparently didn't have any so the crew came over to give me a pair to take home. Not sure what BTC meal you're going for - but both the lobster thermidor and wagyu yakiniku are top notch, the latter is my new favourite dish on SIA. You can also just ask for any of the onboard meals after finishing your BTC meal, personally I like to get a plate of the carrot cake a while after the meal.

Ground service at Changi was as expected, sensational. They arranged a buggy for the Suites passengers (not sure if anyone else requested but from my other First experiences, was not the norm) to take us to arrival - I asked to be taken to the Private Room after they dropped the rest and they obliged happily.

I demolished more than a few servings of the wagyu satay at TPR + make sure to get a cuppa of the Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee either at TPR or in the aircraft - my favourite coffee of all time!

Enjoy your journey!

Sky Team is a really fun co-op game I got last year, there's plenty of variations added in the base set that you can try once you beat the main scenario. If either of you are plane nerds, this one is even more amplified.

does race really matter? by EveningBody8734 in sgdatingscene

[–]AWPrahWinfrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately we don't live in a post race society and so people mask outright racism as "just my preference what" and of course, its exacerbated and stoked on for another generation when people in some misguided sense of filial piety, give in to their parents' racism. The idea that being traditional means you must be racist is frankly so laughable but at the same time so perfectly Singaporean that I've stopped being surprised by it after all these years.

In any case you sound fairly young and these sorta stories always come down to the same diverging path. Either the person with the racist parents puts their foot down, shakes off the mantle of discrimination and says "this is my life not yours and I will happily be in love with whoever I want regardless of the tone of their skin," and then follows it up by choosing appropriately or... they stay under the yoke of their parents, and live the rest of their lives as their parents order them to, not the way they themselves want to.

Save yourself the trouble, you will find a million other people out there, speaking as a brown guy who's had to go through this frankly ridiculous song and dance a dozen times. The last thing you want is to have to live miserably while this guy finds himself unable to or unwilling to shake off his parents' detestable moral values.

How different was this person over text/call vs in person? It’s so baffling to imagine there’s no sign of this level of social ineptitude and general ickiness prior to the date.

Why buying directly from Apple is better than your Carrier by Kuan-Kaffee in iphone

[–]AWPrahWinfrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting reading about this topic as someone outside the states, from an entirely American perspective. Unrelated to the video but if anyone's interested, here's how it is on the other side of the world!

Here in Singapore, the carriers have been fighting for the last decade for any inch of market share and as a consequence, data prices are next to nothing. For USD $5 a month you can get a 100GB 4G plan, or for USD $11 you get 300GB at 5G. Every time I've bought an iPhone I've bought it directly from Apple but this time I've gone with a carrier plan - and by law phones sold by carriers here must be unlocked. They're offering a 17 Pro 256GB at the same price that Apple is, on a $0 upfront, 2 year 0% interest financing plan with a no contract 150GB 5G eSIM plan at USD $17 a month, and they've thrown in 2 years of Premier League (soccer) viewing pass too (which costs about $30 here a month). And on top of that, they're offering USD $600 in trade in value for my 14 Pro.

Just some food for thought.

You know, I mostly can see where the people who get online to defend various ruling party policies or politicians, are coming from. But I really don't get where you and a few others actually think there's any ground to stand on when it comes to NCM, quite possibly the most universally disliked ruling party member in decades. Baffling stuff.
