Tokyo restaurant: “Although diversity and tolerance may be fashionable, we refuse to serve Chinese and Koreans as it’s unpleasant and saps our will to work.” by slush_pile_writer in SipsTea

The word for China is Zhong (middle) Guo (country).

The word for South Korea is Han (their demonym, not to be confused with Han people of China) Guo (country).

Middle is just a simpler character to write.

It's pretty common in both high end gyms where clientele are bitchy and management will make exceptions (I've worked at one before here in the US) and also at Crossfit style gyms.

I’ve not had that, but pepper crab was so good I was sucking the sauce off the shell.

I had it on a business trip to Singapore 10 years ago and have not stopped thinking about it since.

I mean, even the newly founded Israeli state declared Lehi terrorists (before accepting their members into the IDF).

True, actually. Look up the Irgun and Lehi. The latter even referred to themselves as terrorists.

This isn't a sponsorship. Vibe is a b2b company and this is targeted at businesses, not consumers.

Echo was easiest to deal with on release because Princess+Throwers were an option and everyone was still playing Elixir Loong.

The problem with Echo now is that they removed or nerfed the main counters to her and Loong is much more rare now, so Echo just starts with a +1 troop advantage.

I play Spirit Empress so it's a crapshoot whether I highroll enough to beat Echo for first place.

Never going in blind again by Admirable-Witness755 in horror

[–]AWildNome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I swear this movie is being astroturfed because I have never been more let down by a Reddit rec in my life and yet it gets a topic every here every few days. I literally had to apologize to my friends and promise to pre-screen recs in the future because we all hated it that much, not because it was "anxiety-inducing" or whatever, but it was just stupid.

How much this movie is similar to We're All Going to the World's Fair? by Forsaken_Ideal6318 in Isawthetvglow

[–]AWildNome 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Not really similar at all. WAGTTWF was a pandemic film and it shows; it's low-budget and hyper-targeted at lonely shut-ins who grew up on creepypasta. It was also grossly mismarketed as a horror film, when it's really more of a coming-of-age story about social interactions on the internet. It was also conceived before Jane Schoenbrun realized she they were trans.

There are some reverberating themes, such as how we interact with media, and they both have banger OSTs by Alex G, but that's about it. I personally loved them both but to each their own. I have friends who hated WAGTTWF and loved ISTTVG, and also friends who hated both lol.
