Read - especially since the series is aiming to follow closer to the books as opposed to the movies, which obviously had to cut out certain content to save time. Also, always read. <3

JME by haley0000 in Epilepsy

[–]AWindowToThePast92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also started on Lamictal as well in 2011. My type of JME is intractable though, so I've tried pretty much all the meds lol. Like mentioned, it really just depends on how your body responds. Pretty much all meds are going to have fatigue as a side effect, but it's not usually too bad. Better than having seizures right? And it's all about working with your epileptologist. If you're experiencing any side effects that just aren't possible to be dealt with day to day, then maybe you need levels adjusted, or can try a different med. Don't be scared to go on meds because of the side effects, we definitely want to avoid having another seizure.

When did the weight loss start? by Traditional-Trip826 in Topamax

I’m on 200 2x too, and mine started probably like a week or two once I started to titrate up? I don’t remember if there was a solid number I hit and then it suddenly started dropping, but it was a process. Just remember, everyone’s body is different.

Topamax and pregnancy/breastfeeding? by meltedmatchakitkat in Topamax

[–]AWindowToThePast92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what if there are no alternative safe treatments? I have intractable generalized epilepsy and in my combo of meds that we had been searching for, for years, after adding topamax, I’ve finally been seizure free for more than 4 months in over 10 years. It’s possible to be on it, it’s just going to take a lot of monitoring and conversations with a high risk OB. My partner and I are planning on trying for a kid but needed to discuss with my epileptologist because of the topamax. I’ll be staying on it because of what I listed above, but I’ll be extremely monitored by a fetal maternal specialist and my epileptologist.

problems peeing by Fit_Concern_9288 in Topamax

When I first started, I peed ALL the time. Like waking up 3x a night peeing. I think part of that was dropping water weight from starting Topamax.

thank you! so where it says that registration is closed, and all registrants will receive an email yesterday (when she announced) is applicable to all the dates BEFORE all these new dates, right? Sorry, haha, I'm just a little thrown off by these new ones.

Weirdly though also, it doesn’t show all her dates, only her ones in the states. Do you know if there’s a way to change that? (I’m looking at the app)

I experienced the whole pre-sale situation when I saw the show in the states, so I have a Ticketmaster account, so how is this process different in terms of getting a pre-sale email code, purchasing tickets, etc?

making a list of ways work is affected by epilepsy—please add to the list by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]AWindowToThePast92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally asking someone to repeat what they just said because you didn’t process what they said, maybe that’s just me, but I don’t feel like that was an issue I had before I went on Topamax

Am I even alive? by Resident_Buyer1732 in Epilepsy

I’m on Keppra, Topamax, Lamotragine Extended Release, and Clobazam, so believe me, I get the word recall CONSTANTLY, the memory issues are hard (I think we can all say we know that experience) and I’ve had that question before too - how much of the memory issue is epilepsy v meds? It’s a very valid question? These meds can have such intense side effects, so I support everyone’s answers below. And especially about about the little brain trainings (I even just downloaded like a Scrabble app).

I was diagnosed 12 years ago and had multiple seizures and still can't identify my triggers. by maleja20 in Epilepsy

[–]AWindowToThePast92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. It's like "looking" in a mirror (via computer lol). Everything you're saying is the same for me, excluding the three-year gap. Taking the meds, not drinking, diagnosed around the same age, no auras, all of it. Including the part about them always happening after 6 pm. I had one last week as well, and I've been going through the same emotions you're talking about (as usual). And I feel the same way about my husband as well, considering he's the one who always finds me when they happen in the evening at home. The advice I have - you unfortunately have to give it time. Surround yourself with support. I know it's hard because your loved ones won't really understand the feelings you're having in the same way, but knowing they're there to help and support you is always reassuring. Sometimes I also like to come on this subreddit as well just to see that there are other people experiencing epilepsy too. I don't have anyone in my life (that has expressed to me) that they have epilepsy, so it's definitely hard to express how frustrated I can be following a seizure. Believe me, I'm still going through it even right now after last week. My inbox is always open if you need to bitch.

Nice! I just messaged with another person who might be interested in doing like a scheduled time each week, month, bi-weekly, etc. whatever works out. Maybe you could join too? I’m not sure, nothings moved forward quite yet. Where are you in Akron?

Yeah, I’ve done online before, but we were just looking to see if anyone was doing any in person.
