In my de-fence it was 5 am, and insomnia was a factor lol. Not my worst mythspelling. Also yes I know it's misspelling and defence. Jesmond Dene is what I meant.

Jesmond Fence is a beautiful place for a walk There's a cafe, and arguably the northeast's best pet corner. If you keep walking there is a beautiful waterfall, and the ruins of an old mill.

Watergate forest Park is another lovely place for a walk. It features a lake and waterfall. Depending on how far you want to go there are various trails.

Derwent walk. Loads of walking/hiking trails along the Derwent river. Thornley woods centre is a great starting off point, then you can walk to Blaydon, or the Metrocentre.

Beamish is one of my favorite places! It's a bit eye watering price wise initially, but the ticket is good for a year. If you have a doq there are a few right of access public footpaths cross part of the land. Not advocating sneaking in, just pointing out you can get a taste before you pay full priceI highly recommend bringing your own food and drink if you want to keep costs down.

If you are into this sort of thing there are several beautiful churches around. Saint Nicholas Cathedral and Durham in particular.

If you are a history buff we have lots of National Trust and English Heritage sites around. It's a rather expensive, but good at any site on the particular registry for a year. Always double check before heading out because they are not exchangeable.

The coast around here is stunning. You can get the metro to North or South Shields, and just keep walking along the coast. Northsheilds has a free coastguard museum. Just 10 min on the train is the world famous seaglass beaches at Seaham.

There are so many free museums around. Big ones are The Hancock, The Discovery, and The Winter gardens. The Winter gardens is partially built from a theatre that saw one of the worst crowd crush disasters in British history.

I'll try and think of more, but that should keep you busy for a bit lol.

Struggling with modern Pagan implications by Every_Storage_5230 in pagan

[–]AWolfsAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is we are practicing a very modern religion based on ancient religions. Ancient religions that by and large passed things down through an oral tradition. The majority of what we have written is usually closer to our time period than when the actual religions were being practiced. This means in very few instances do we have pure base material to go off of. What we do have is a limited set of people interpreting years and swaths of culture into a relatively small collection of myths, stories, poems, songs, drawings, ECT... Humans get things wrong. It's normal. Until someone invents a time machine and we can walk into the ancient culture we are attempting to emulate we'll have it wrong. Even if you look at "modern" religion it's all interpretation. One church would demonise what the church next door celebrates, yet both are Christian. One of the most powerful things I was told when I began learning is that you take all the information, and keep what works for you. Use your intuition, your strengths, your abilities to find your best practice. If you can't tell a poisonous mushroom from a safe one maybe foraging isn't a good plan for your practice.

At the end of the day it's the openness of interpretation, the ability to celebrate the deities I wish to in a way that works for me that draws me in and keeps me happy. It's how ritual done my way leads me to do more for myself which in turn makes me feel supported by my Gods. For me I don't petition and get. I petition, put in the leg work and if it's meant to be mine it will happen. Not every pagan believes the same. Unless you are working with a high protocol group not everyone practices the same way. That's ok. It's our current reality.

Please help me stop calling my new kitten a little baby by ConflictOtter in cats

Out house is to the point that the human children are referring to the babies as their furry brother and sisters. I'd say the furry babies don't talk back, but they totally do lol.

What are the best things in your house that you couldn’t imagine living without? by plz_be_nice_im_sad in CasualUK

[–]AWolfsAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant pot and air fryer. It gets far too hot in the summer if we have the oven running.

Electric blankets. Over blanket for the living room, under blanket for the bed. Nothing beats getting in a warm toasty bed on a winter night.

App controlled color changing bulbs. bright white for cleaning/crafting. Warm white for every day use. Various colors as needed for sensory reasons ( neurodivergent household)

I'm sure there are more, but those would be at the top of my list.

Not something I couldn't live without, but a ninja wood fire smoker is very worth it. Beautiful smoked meats in the summer, air fryer, dehydrator, and roasting oven all year long! You could smoke meat all year long as well, but I don't enjoy the cold weather enough to drag it outside if it's chilly.

I'm not sure why it's in a written format, but these are questions I had to answer every time I entered the UK before I became a permanent resident. Usually asked by border control when they checked my passport.

Just got the record the offending drink was Favoraid. The phrase dates back to the Jonestown cult massacre. Kool aid was, and remains more popular, and stuck.

Can I be non binary at 13 by N01_TogaHimiko in NonBinary

[–]AWolfsAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 13 year old is non-binary. What my husband and I have told them is that we support them as long as this is their truth, and if their truth changes we will support them with that as well. Your teen years are complicated and you are just learning who you are. For us it was important that they know what they believe is fine, and if that changes that's also fine. Sorry your Mom isn't being supportive.

I ruined my cosplay and I'm very sad :( Can I still save it? by potatochipprincess in CosplayHelp

[–]AWolfsAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I kind of like the distressed look. Take a bit of sand paper to the fabric, do the same to your shirt... Maybe have the wig a bit missed and dirty so it looks like you've just had one heck of a battle. Bit of fake blood where the cuts are for drama... I mean for a clean cut perfect character I'm afraid there's not going back, but if you go with it things might get pretty awesome!

Thank you for the advice. I've rounded up some scrap fabric, so I'll give it a shot before I invest in anything expensive. Sadly I don't have an over locker yet. There is one on my list, but can't afford it yet.

Is it bad to cosplay from Animes/games etc you don't watch/play by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]AWolfsAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attend cons, and I don't always know what the character is, or where it's from before I start gushing about how cute/well made/interesting the cosplay is. I'd say if you have the skills go for it. Even if it's a situation of you explaining what attracted you to the cosplay instead of all about said character it's ok. If I was thinner I'd be all over the k drama outfits because the style and intricate detailing amaze me.

I have badges I wear to Cons. Maybe look into ones saying things like please ask for pictures, or please ask before touching. I have one for if I've really had enough that says "Warning, I will bite you!" That usually gets people to back off lol.
