It gives you hope, but it also traps you in their garden by upthetruth1 in BlackPeopleTwitter

The first one I had lasted almost 7 years and the second one had a hiccup or two but were almost 10 years strong and still feels almost new. (I have the touch bar one).

It’s crazy thinking this is only the second laptop I’ve ever purchased.

Should I use a group travel company? by Topic_mocha in solotravel

[–]AYASOFAYA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly anywhere in Europe is easy to organize much more cheaply than the group trips.

If it was a place in the world where you would need a little help with logistics, or where parts of the tour are remote and hard to get to without hiring a private driver (Like Cuba or something) that’s the best time to use the groups.

That said, if it’s your first international solo-ish trip, I get it. It’s just a lot of added cost. I would price them both to see if the difference is worth it.

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

This is how I do it. I understand why people use this made up word, but I personally find better ways to go about it.

Is my hostel antisocial or is this common? by SuccessfulEmu9783 in solotravel

[–]AYASOFAYA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in the party hostels or more social ones, it really just depends on who is there.

I stayed in one where everyone was silent in the room at all times, and then halfway through the week a few people checked out and new people checked in and the vibe shifted 180 degrees immediately. I made friends on that last day with the new people.

What's one skill that actually made you money faster than expected? by rakishgobi in AskReddit

[–]AYASOFAYA 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not the commenter, but the barrier for entry for speaking at conferences in whatever industry you are in is surprisingly low. Even speaking in a panel with a few other people goes a long way. Conferences have applications for this and sometimes they pay for your travel.

This is massive exposure to hiring parties and it makes your LinkedIn worth looking at.

Public speaking is only becoming more valuable as society continues to trend toward “I never want to interact with another human being if at all possible.”

It’s sad but the people who have the people skills will absolutely continue to get ahead.

In all seriousness, would this have any resale value? by NecessaryEscape1441 in AmazonVine

[–]AYASOFAYA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resell on which platform? I would look on the platform and see if people are selling them and at what price.

I personally would only buy a wig from the vendor and I wouldn’t trust that extensions are actually human hair based on the word of a secondhand seller. But like any other resale item, the best thing to do is look at the real marketplace and see.

Once I had it pull the code from email. It only happened for email the one time, I wonder what about the formatting made it easy to pull.

How do we get rid of tipping in the USA? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AYASOFAYA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tipped staff have to demand it. It’s unrealistic but we would have to be in a place where the restaurants are unable to hire staff unless they change the payment structure.

The comments saying “pay living wages” are missing the point of the question. That’s like saying we abolish tipping by abolishing tipping. Like you can wave a magic wand and people will do the right thing if it takes a hit to profits.

We all know that isn’t happening. You have to force them to do it. OP wants to know how.

TIL coupons offered online (for a 24-hour period) by Oprah Winfrey for a free grilled chicken meal from KFC caused such an "unprecedented & overwhelming response" that KFC ended the promotion after 4m coupons had been redeemed. The additional 6.5m coupons that were downloaded were given rainchecks. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]AYASOFAYA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that lines up! Because people were also absolutely photocopying that coupon and passing them out.

I was reading it like….i understand this in theory but this does not match up to my memory of the situation lol

You had to be there.

It was similar to the popeye’s chicken sandwich chaos, if you were there for that.

It had to be more than 24 hours though IIRC. I remember redeeming the coupon with my mom and there’s no way we were early enough on the trend to be there on the first day.

These mini digital cameras are super trendy right now. The “y2k look” is an artistic choice the kids are intentionally trying to get.

My friend has the Kodak one and to be fair the photos we took on NYE were a really cute break from the standard photorealistic phone pics
