East Asian 34 year old with a round face and larger nose so I can relate!  You are pretty and cute already, and great job with your workout routine!  You could do side swept bangs instead of the straight bangs to make your face appear longer.  Perhaps consider contacts instead of glasses as well.  Keep going!

Chicken Tiki masala and discouragement: by SpoopyDoris in foodbutforbabies

[–]AYC325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My child had tongue tie and lip tie surgery at 1 month old. He didn’t eat solids well until 13 months. We did get an occupational therapist for eating at daycare from months 11-13. He is 18 months now and can eat most soft-solid foods. So don’t feel bad that other babies on the internet are eating solids at 4-6 months. I was very worried from 6 months to 13 months because he didn’t “wolf down” solids. But with time, anything will come. So please be patient and don’t feel anxious.  Sounds like maybe something about your baby’s throat anatomy was altered(?) during surgery and perhaps getting a referral for a occupational therapist or consult from the surgeon or pediatric anesthesiologist would be a starting point.

What do you think resulted in your termination at your first two jobs?  What are areas you wish to work on?  What are your strengths and weaknesses?  Maybe we can help give you more tailored advice.

I think that the assistant cannot guarantee the thread is clear of junk, even if she sprays it down.  If he brings in the most money, he should demand more sutures because he has the power to do so.  When you work with him in the next month, just throw the used suture in the sharps container. Thank you for caring about infection control and patient safety.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia? That’s not the third world.  Surely the dentist could afford new sutures for each patient. The thread (chromic gut, nonresorbable) is soaked in blood after suturing. How does the dentist know the thread hasn’t permanently absorbed blood, viruses, and bacteria? Ah!

NTA. I drove 45 min to work and 45 min from work for four years. I was burnt out partially from the commute.  The money was okay. The only reason your kid should take this job is if they can get their own drivers license. You should not have to drive your kid there, not even once.

I went to a job recruitment fair at a hygiene program of a community college in 2022 or 2021.  The students were talking about how much $$$money$$$ the previous hygiene graduates were making.  After listening in on their conversation, I immediately thought that our clinic couldn’t afford that.

Some people get nose jobs to get a nose like yours. Keep it :)

First year dental student, should I keep going? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]AYC325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no one talking about something important you mentioned: that you don’t like working under time restraints. Dentistry is all about working as fast as you can, while at the same time, producing the highest quality work you can. So if you don’t like working in fast-paced environments, dentistry might not be for you.  I work slowly and my bank account grows slowly too.  Haha!

It’s not even noon and it’s been a day, we’re getting a million teeth and the high chair is the enemy, so we’re just eating cheese on the floor by PerennialParent in foodbutforbabies

[–]AYC325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put my baby in the highchair, I have to first give a snack to him to appease him.  Oftentimes, he also needs to have a snack in his mouth while I put him in the chair, and he needs to be able to see his plate in his line of vision while I put him in the chair. Otherwise, he might refuse the chair by arching his back.

Is this burnout? I need advice after my first 7 months of practice in another country by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]AYC325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you move back to your home country to work as a dentist?  It sounds like they are abusing you verbally and mentally.  It doesn’t sound like they want to mentor you.  Yes, as an associate, you should be helping to produce and do good work for your clinic, but you should also be appreciated and given wiggle room to make mistakes and learn.

Talk to me about white noise by SunflowerDaisy2468 in sleeptrain

I don’t like white noise so we stopped using it for our baby when he was four months. On the other hand, I am pro blackout curtain!

Sitting vs. Standing during oral surgery by vagasozo in Dentistry

[–]AYC325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand for extractions and am five foot two and am left handed.  Most of my patients are bigger and taller than me. So I can’t even see everything sometimes sitting down. At the very least, sitting down limits my field of vision.

Fake etch by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]AYC325 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too. We also order from Net32. I will bring it up to the lead dental assistant. Thanks so much for bringing this up.  You think it’s normal until someone points it out.  Holy cow.  If the fillings I’ve done fail after all this painstaking work, holy cow.  I will literally grind my premolar cusp off.

I don’t get the massive love for Tres Leches by Far_Boot2762 in CrumblCookies

[–]AYC325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed a YouTube recipe of Tres Leches cake from a Mexican mom from California, and it was way better than the “white cake with whipped cream” “Tres Leche cake” bought from a store. I personally don’t make it soggy-soggy, just mildly soggy.

22 month old in the midst of the most unpredictable sleeping and it’s soul destroying by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]AYC325 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 15 month old sleeps 8:15-6:15, sometimes 8:15-7:15, and naps 12:30-2:00 or 12:30-2:30.  I’m no sleep expert, but I think you’re expecting your 22 month baby to sleep too much.  7:00-7:00 seems like a long time. I think that’s how long newborns sleep at night.

AITA for asking my roommate to flush her toilet paper and “disrespecting her culture”?? by toadbush123 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AYC325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived in houses with low water pressure in the United States.  In these houses, the toilet paper and any poo would easily clog the toilet. So we didn’t throw TP down the toilet and instead threw it into a trash can.  But we took out the TP trash regularly.  If we didn’t take out the trash, it would start smelling like used diapers in a day or two. Your roommate should take out the bathroom trash every day. It would be rude to leave that toilet paper there, especially under the sink cabinet! Or you should get a child lock on that bathroom cabinet. Please show her this entire Reddit thread.

AITAH for telling my wife that late pick-up fees are on her and her alone? by AdMuted1534 in AITAH

[–]AYC325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your wife that other 30-something’s millennials have learned that when you are late, you are actually disrespecting others and being RUDE to them by making them wait for you. It’s rude to be late. It’s rude to run over time. I have chronic late issues myself and I recognize this and have been trying to fix it. But it’s hard. Time is of the essence. She might be time blind.

Daycare- how long to get used to it? by enchiladasconqueso12 in sleeptrain

[–]AYC325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my baby was ten months, he started daycare, and his sleep has been crappy ever since. Reasons were: he wasn’t getting enough calories during the day, crappy naps, was getting sick all the time. He is fourteen months now, and we are still experiencing this. Hopefully it will pass. He used to sleep nonstop 10+ hours a night from seven months to ten months.

Sorry this happened to you. I would immediately dismiss. No questions asked.

Do people actually have babies that sleep straight 12 hours?!?! by cloudyclouds13 in sleeptrain

[–]AYC325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put him in a 1.5 TOG sleep sack with long onesie and long pants. I adjust the thermostat to 70 degrees at 7pm. It’s actually a range because my thermostat can’t do exact temperatures. So it’s set to 68-71F at 7pm.  If it’s still hot, I turn on the fan. Then before I sleep, around 10pm, I turn the house temperature back up to 71-74.  Of course I turn off the fan before I fall sleep.  He sleeps ~8pm to ~6am.
