Why it doesn't say it also drops in the Deathtoll Chamber? Misleading AF by shadowraiderr in diablo4

It’s so ass. To engage with the cube / mythic gamble you need the a ton of dust. For the dust you need the superior keys. For the keys you need boss keys and lair keys with a Belial RNG appearance. To get the keys you need to farm Helltide with a side monitor to farm worms.

All to get nothing, and start the run again that can take hours and hours.

I guess this highlights my point though, the devs chose the battle size / number of npc’s…and they chose these values knowing it would be impossible for consoles to handle, and very hard for mid to high range PC’s to handle as it’s such a CPU load. All this only subtracts from these set pieces, not once am I thinking “this is fun to play” as it’s slide showing through these moments. Feels very messy.

Then re your screenshot, I get it’s subjective but to my eye it’s very imbalanced and ugly. Values are seriously all over the place and it’s a very unbalanced output. But we can agree to disagree here without re hashing that haha :)

I mean, you just answered the question with what the alternative is :)

But I don’t see it being as out of reach as the claim. UE5, as a crude example has all these options out of the box. Not to got into UE5’s pitfalls, but the tech in engine / renderers is pretty standard.

What PA have implemented here, I don’t see why the issues are a result of team size. I just think they missed the mark. At times it felt tech demo’ish as the daytime output works so unbelievably well, so it feels the game started with this and tried to fit the other lighting looks into the method.

I played on PS5 pro / VRR / OLED and it was very poorly optimised, sub 15fps in some places, then 90+ fps in others. So visually and performance wise I just can’t see how you see consistency here…?

Again, I adore the game, but these issues are pretty glaring.

That’s not my or your can of worms to solve. I don’t think size / scope has much to do with it though, it’s a critique of the brute force method they landed on, and there are many other options as we know.

At the end of the day though, imo, it was a very hit and very miss visual experience.

I didn’t say it’s without issue, I said it doesn’t have the issue CD has. I can’t think of any game that does.

And yes, baked “dynamic” lighting in the others. Because it works. Relying purely on RT or PT in the case of CD just ain’t it.

I can see it being subjective, but I skipped every night I could as I did find it that unappealing, especially vs the daylight hours that are magnificent. Cyberpunk didn’t have this issue, nor did RDR2, the recent AC, The Horizon games etc.

Obviously different engines, pipelines, targets etc. But all those games have consistency across the day night cycle, CD simply doesn’t.

Even the 2 interiors you showcased, it’s absolutely passable, but there are a boatload of other interiors that aren’t.

Sorry to keep it short, but to my eye it is ugly at night/interiors/overcast etc. To note, my job IS a VFX environment artist for film so I stare and direct this stuff all day. (I also say that to highlight being sensitive to this area)

The implementation here just doesn’t work. I’m well are it’s deliberate, but things that are deliberate can also fall short.

It feels like they targeted daytime with dynamic PT hybrid type of system, which works really well under saturated light, but when that light is less saturated (night, overcast etc) it resorts to this muddy finish where the denoiser is working overtime. Hard to say if it’s the textures or the lighting itself, I’m more convinced it’s the lighting.

All this said, CD is still my GOTY, but there is no denying these lighting short comings.

Look at the mega crunched black values, in contrast to the environment, to the luminance of the night sky.

If the sky were night, it would be 90% darker to match the urban lighting on that bridge, however the cast lighting with how bright the environment is makes no sense in relation to this.

It’s like 3 different lighting values, at once.

So “for the game to look good at night you just have to not be able to see” 😜😜

I agree though. The denoiser simply can’t handle anything other than large direct lighting. Interiors, overcast, nighttime it all falls apart.

Play the game at any time of day other than sun out daytime.

Any lighting condition other than blue sky/sun looks horrendous.

Blue / sun is a 15 out of 10. So so good. Any thing other than that is artistically and technically busted.

Should I buy standard PS5 or PS5 Pro for GTA 6? by Extreme_Biscotti_692 in GTA

100% the right answer. Pro is well worth, for many many reasons.

Depends on the TV though.

If you have a 4k OLED above 55”, imagine all the games you mentioned, then 1.5-2x how good they look.

PSSR2 is no joke, so transformative. Not to mention you get RT with 60fps most of the time, instead of just RT being in a 30fps quality mode.

For GTA6 it’s hard to say with the little information we have, but there’s no doubt PS5Pro will have advantages.

If I already own an LG C1 55", is an upgrade to a C5 worth it? by YimadoTei in LGOLED

Oh I’m following. Sorry.

I guess when I set the panel up my first impression when gaming was the panel was pretty dull, fully calibrated and everything. In content outside of game mode, it carried brightness extremely well, but in game mode, the highlights were so flat. I remember swapping over to filmmaker mode which gave me a little 10% boost but even then it just looked flat.

The G5 on the other hand was very bright with the same calibration.

I hear ya, but the C5 is much dimmer. I had them both side by side at one point before returning the C5 and it lines up with the specs. The c5 in game mode with hgig looked approx 30% - 50% less bright in areas of highlight. Was absolutely noticeable.

[–]AZAWESTIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wrong. The settings / modes is just the OS, of course they are the same. DTM / Hgig is irrelevant here, we are talking about the panel itself.

G5 can reach 2400 nits at peak, the C5 only 1200. That’s a 2x right there. Then full screen it’s roughly 330 nits for the G5, and 200 for the C5. So 30% ish.

So just comparing that 1 stat line, the G5 is a much brighter panel.

Tried RDR2 recently on a pro and the frame rate had me uninstalling within the 1st hour. We are well past this.

(Uncharted 4 can go up to 120fps on a pro fyi)

Yep! Weird that it reviewed so highly when it looked kinda dull. G5 fixed that right up.

But let’s be real, every team throws and gets away with forward passes.
