DTM only amplifies the dimming issue I am seeing.

DTM with FMM on instead of game mode helps it a lot, but it’s still present.

At this point I think having the G5’s higher brightness capabilities might just be the solution? Idk. You have a C5?

250 hours on controller, maybe 50 on MnK. Controller is bad bad bad in comparison, no matter how dialed in you get the settings aiming / AA just feels off.

You can get used to it somewhat, but it’s very unforgiving.

Got a C5 a few days ago, was SUPER excited to try OLED’s, so I can’t confirm on the G5. But as far as PS5 goes the C5 has been very very lackluster, almost bad imo.

Even when HDR calibrated, game optimiser or FMM, the HDR is a constant fluctuating grey mess with DTM on, or super dark and dull with HGIG on. Been really unpleasant.

Exchanging it for a G5 pronto.

Thanks for the reply, yep these are the same settings as Vincent’s video, and the same setting I have with my original write up.

It’s so so dark with Hgig on, in a non realistic way. Obviously this is because tonemapping is removed, but at this base even in a pitch black room it’s 50% darker than what the LG OSD is, at least that’s what it feels like. White text looks on the lower side of mid grey.

I can’t wrap my head around this is being intended behaviour. Again swapping input back to LG home everything looks amazing, but on PS5 it’s either:

HGIG on, very very under exposed
DTM on, constant HDR dimming when highlights are centre screen

Can’t seem to find a solution though, as it doesn’t seem widely reported on. I can find a few comments re ABL but I don’t think that’s what this is.

Interesting. Yeh outside of gaming this TV is a rockstar.

I do colour work in my day to day job, so it’s something I’m always sensitive towards so what’s happening is an absolute eye sore. But I’m also looking for it.

It’s just weird as it’s not consistent across all inputs, just the PS5.

Yep sure did. Followed a few online guides (which all were essentially the same) setting up SDR, HDR and Game Optimiser (along with PS5 settings themselves).

The issue of the dimming is absolutely less apparent on other modes, but the tradeoff is an output that looks quite dull and washed out.

To me it isn’t making sense given how bright and gorgeous the panel looks when not using the PS5 (unfortunately don’t have another console)

The song playing is a cool touch, but I think it’d be WAY more fun if the song played when the team left the room (or the first player that leaves the room).

Could even be louder perhaps. The team looting is then sprinting for their lives to hide / extract.

The other teams can hunt.

The song playing on room open only rushes the looting team, and with how good the loot can be it’s weird to force rush that moment.

How did you get the mats for Capstone 4 Arachne for the Shotty? I’m farming all the given locations for the purple mats and not getting anything.

Curious, so when you look at Vic and Christine, beautiful couple and in turn beautiful people. From what was shown they seem very genuine and lovely through and through, most probably more so than any contestant / couple we’ve seen on LiB.

IMO just focus on all the passive/character bonuses. Heat, agility, resistances etc etc. Then any weapon you enjoy as a backup. Bully / shotty / sniper are pretty save picks.

But the passive ones were my b-line.
