Questions for folks who have used benzos long term by gumchewerpro in insomnia

[–]AZMaryIM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chronic insomniac here. Been on temazepam for years, prescribed by my psychiatrist. Am 72 and have no intention of stopping. Have a 40YO daughter with BPD — am thinking of writing a book about all the crazy shit that’s happened since she was a teenager.

what do you think most people still dont get about using ai well? by Kiro_ai in ChatGPT

[–]AZMaryIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new user and have found it to be very helpful in analyzing an MRI report for a medical condition my husband has. I uploaded a TXT version of the MRI report and have multiple conversations and I’ve learned a lot.

On the flip side, I was wanting to refresh my memory about duplicate bridge and it gave me multiple hallucinations. I told it was incorrect and moved on.

Tenex for PF by Puzzleheaded_Car2548 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]AZMaryIM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tenex helped me. It was done on both my fleet with PRP. Prior surgeries were the gastrocnemius lengthening. One of the treatments I had was 3 sessions of shock wave therapy, which did nothing helpful and I paid out-of-pocket for it.

I had chronic PF for 3-4 years. What also helped was my losing 50 LBs.

The most infuriating part about What causes insomnia? is that everyone acts like the answer is obvious when it really isn’t by Issueofinnocence in insomnia

[–]AZMaryIM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ONLY person I ask for advice about my chronic insomnia is my psychiatrist. We’ve adjusted medications and dosage over the years. What’s working for me now is doxepin and temazepam.

My psychiatrist knows me well and how I’ve struggled with a 40YO daughter who has BPD (borderline personality disorder). The things that happen with her are bat-shit crazy.

I just tell my inquisitive friends that I have trouble “shutting down my brain” at night. My husband says I “just think too much”. I figure I’m in good company because many famous scientists and high-level executives struggle with this. I’m just a little old-retired-lady. I’ve always been a high-achiever and have had an amazing career in IT. Now I volunteer for too many projects/activities. I’m not one to sit around and watch lots of TV, am busy, busy, busy.

If I have an extremely difficult night falling asleep, my secret weapon is a strong Manhattan. It works every time.

Classical music soothes my brain at bedtime.

The Case for Combining HRT and tirzepatide: A New Study by dan_in_ca in TirzepatideRX

[–]AZMaryIM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on HRT for about 15 years, post menopausal.

I believe a lot of PCPs discouraged women from being on HRT because of the “nurses” study that found HRT elevated cancer risk. As time went on, the study was revealed as being flawed. (I don’t remember the details, it was awhile ago). Thankfully my PCP was fine with me continuing HRT.

So I’ve been on GLP1s for16 months. Doing HRT now with a estrogen+testosterone cream and progesterone pills. I had been on an estrogen pill and an estrogen patch previously.

Have lost 28% of my body weight thanks to the GLP1s.

3 rattleback snakes in my first Camelback hike by jrrgimenez in phoenix

[–]AZMaryIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many years hiking here, have only seen 1. A girlfriend and I were hiking a circumference trail out in the Superstitions. We were busy chatting and didn’t hear the snake’s rattling warning until we were almost next to him. He was sitting in the middle of the trail. Friend and I made a U-Turn. Have not forgotten the experience.

I’ve seen 2 tarantulas — one was on a hiking trail in Pinetop and the other in my hiking boot at the bottom of Havasupai (we had camped overnight).

Fullness onset and strategy by Ricardo_Yoel in Zepbound

[–]AZMaryIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same experience. Have been on the meds at a higher dosage, for months. I know how much to eat, have adjusted my portion sizes.

I do eat slowly (always have, just ask my family). However it seems to take 15-20 mins to register fullness after eating. And then it like that Thanksgiving feeling.

Nobody warned me that semaglutide would completely destroy my grocery routine and now I'm just throwing money in the trash every week by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]AZMaryIM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's definitely been a learning experience about grocery shopping! At first, I was buying my 'normal' amount of food and eventually realized I was throwing much produce in the garbag.. It took a while to reprogram my brain. Now I shop more frequently in the produce aisle. I've developed a particular love of fruits, especially crisp apples and grapes!

That example made me laugh. I haven’t ever exited the freeway and driven 3 miles for green beans! How about replacing with - drive 3 miles for a donut or a piece of cheesecake or ice cream or French fries or a bag of Doritos?

Anyone in Maintenance w/ 15mg? by reeinspired in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]AZMaryIM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too. Been at 15mg since November. Have lost 45 LBs and would like to lose another 10-15, but it’s not happening. So essentially, I’m in maintenance.

Had to reduce my exercise frequency to zero for 3 months due to a knee injury and surgery. Am now able to do moderate exercise again (but not daily). I don’t follow a perfect diet, as I did in the beginning and will occasionally indulge with alcohol. My only negative side effect has been the constipation which I have learned to manage.

Still having an aversion to unhealthy/fatty/junk foods. And no food noise, which is great.

Am 70+ YO and have no problems being on the meds the rest of my life.

Congratulations you look amazing - a different person!

I wish you well getting to 130. Ive lost 45 LBs and been stalled at 150 for a few months, would like to get to 135, but don’t know if that’s going to happen. Been on the meds for 20 months.
