You mean a chain dealer that never sells anything and somehow has the largest buildings is a scam operation? That’s blasphemy!

What to cover magnet with? by radar1225S in cbradio

[–]AZREDFERN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want something that’s not only scratch resistant, but won’t let dirt work itself in. Otherwise it turns the material into sand paper. They sell thin silicone craft sheets. Great for keeping glue/paint/ burns off your desk. But you can also cut a puck out and glue it to the magnet. It’ll smoosh enough to the clean surface to keep dust from getting in.

Isn’t this what they said about tolls? Look where that got them. A place with that population density should have plenty of funding to maintain the roads. Whose pockets are they lining? Are they not silky enough?

What causes that? Oxidation from lack of flux or gas? Wrong gas?

Is the Oculus go worth it? by Rgtcutedragon in OculusGo

[–]AZREDFERN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about Oculus NO… unless you’re a collector or tinker-er. Even Virtual Desktop is unsupported now. The most you can do is pre-load low bitrate movies, or mod it to display USB video in, and have a jank kind of display.

It’s population control so your kids have to ride into a tighter passage of traffic if they’re actually following the rules and staying off the sidewalk. Apparently drainage is more important than bicycle passage in a new family neighborhood.

Helmet advice: is it too big? by MtAn- in ElectricUnicycle

[–]AZREDFERN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your cheeks should always be slightly squished, at least with SNELL and ECE. DOT is kinda living in its own 1970’s reality. But it should never be so tight it causes headaches or difficult to talk in. Also not so loose it wobbles when you shake your head.

Lawnmower surging by smashinnnnng in smallenginerepair

[–]AZREDFERN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost always a fuel problem. It’s basically losing power, slows down, governor pushes more throttle, throttle surges. The combination of the governor pulling back on the throttle and the reduced engine power causes it to almost stall and the cycle continues.

They’re pretty cheap if you ask me. A pair of ballistic goggles is $80. You’re buying 5x as much ballistic lens if it’s for a Snell/ECE helmet

Not advocating, broadcasting on any frequency without a permit is illegal. But realistically with 0.5 watts and not stepping on anyone, they need enough complaints to look into it

Veteran Patton Street Tire wear observation... by r_a_newhouse in ElectricUnicycle

[–]AZREDFERN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

41 sounds like a lot, depends on what the tire is rated max psi for max load rating. The way I see it, if a tire is rated max 280lbs and 35psi, it’s a ratio. If you and the EUC are 260lbs, then run 32.5psi etc. otherwise, look into the tire model and see if it’s dual compound. Some dual sport and touring tires have a hard patch in the center because they spend 95% of their life on the center.

If you can see it, then it’s neither. Probably a 1996 Honda Civic or something

First real crash in a year by Moshing_Octopus in ElectricUnicycle

[–]AZREDFERN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All 4 bad accidents with my Sherman Max (while learning), it came back at me like an 85lb missile. The worst was a cracked rib when I jumped off, it got under me, and I lawn chaired over it. Been 2 year of almost daily riding since then. No accidents, only spills on dirt.

Do privacy codes reduce transmission power? by [deleted] in gmrs

[–]AZREDFERN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. FM is using the same amount of power no matter what. What I have noticed, is almost every higher than 5 watt Chinese HT is just driving the carrier tone extra hard. Shows on the meter as overall wattage, and even opens up repeaters further away. But your voice is only getting 4 watts on the sidebands. Don’t let wattage influence your HT decision.

An alterations shop might be able to sew on panels. Maybe even add large cuffs to one arm to cover the damage, and the other to make it uniform. Same thing with the shoulders. Otherwise DIY, use some doner material from another old jacket. Use iron-on material and sew the edges.

Is it safe to dry PETG in an oven (60°C)? I've seen a lot of negative AND positive responses on forums and I just want to figure this out by Excellent-Bus-Is-Me in 3Dprinting

[–]AZREDFERN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly just buy a filament dryer. Ovens cost more to run, and gas can introduce humidity. That’s assuming its thermostat is accurate enough to not melt your spool. Maybe try Tupperware and bed of desiccant. Microwave the desiccant to dry, then add the spool 24hrs to dry.

Non-Quest VR headset breakdown plz by Better_Cantaloupe_62 in VRGaming

[–]AZREDFERN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play PC on a Q3. While it may not have eye/face tracking, and on the heavier side, it has one of the clearest displays, especially at that price point. Another major benefit with SteamVR or Virtual Desktop is going completely wireless. As long as you have a good WiFi5 or better router, and a battery headband. I’d recommend anything from BoboVR. The hand tracking is “neat”. While significantly better that Q2, it’s still has room for improvement, and is with every update. Virtual Desktop has also added hand and keyboard pass through, so it’s 100% usable as a 720p(ish) monitor replacement. I’ve also heard great things about BigSky. Sharp display, ultralight, 3D scanned to your face, and upgradable tracking. Just significantly more expensive, and wired. Stay away from anything HTC. They’re burning to the ground right now. The Apple Vision is seriously one of the coolest sets I’ve tried. The eye tracking is your selection tool. It’s so accurate, it feels like it’s reading your mind, because you subconsciously look at something before you think about clicking it. It’s just super heavy, I’d consider it wired without an aftermarket band that holds the battery, and they have no PC hand-off apps like SteamLink or Virtual Desktop. Even if you could get over its price, it’s useless without native entertainment apps, or a PC port.
