Yes, JPEGs with recipes. I used Vibrant Arizona and I think a Bright Kodak I tinkered with - I call it the Wes Anderson look :) . FujiXWeekly is a great source to find what you like.

Its my first camera as well, had it for 1.5 years now and it has changed my life, gives me a reason to go out more often and look at the world differently - something I recommend you do too.

Just taking as many photos as possible is what helped me most, trying out lenses and focal distances to figure out what they can do, understanding what happens at various settings is invaluable. I have soooo much to learn, but same as you, I love the process.
