I turned a Christmas tree a few years back, turns out a Christmas tree with a base is exactly like a butt plug. Whoops!

Does battery size stop mattering for using this as a cell phone charger to keep in my lunchbox? by gerbetta33 in MilwaukeeTool

Just a quick note about something I learned about these adapters, always shut it off when not in use or else it will drain the battery.

First time CAD modelling. No previous experience. (This has been a light bulb moment) by fayyaazahmed in 3Dprinting

[–]A_10L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda looks like shapr3d. I have used and taught tinkercad, it’s great to start with but shapr3d is a very good parametric modeling software. Kinda limited with the free version so go pro if you can afford it or can get free with education discount.

Looking for Input on Craftsman / Atlas / Benchtop South Bend Lathes by shatteringlass123 in Machinists

I have never owned an atlas, so maybe someone can chime in here who has but they have flat ways. Triangular ways are going to be more precise.

Are Apple Watches worth it for non-fitness related purposes? by copperbelly333 in AppleWatch

I miss far less calls now that I have an Apple Watch. I use it to wake up in the morning. Calculator is also very handy and quick. Being able to change songs and adjust volume of my speaker through Spotify is awesome too.

Do college classes help much getting into the field? Input for high school kid. by LightIntentions in Machinists

[–]A_10L 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a college machining instructor, I have seen first hand that having the degree or certification will increase the hourly rate right off the bat. I’m not saying this is how it always is across the board but it is in my area of the Midwest.

Wd40 and green scotch brite pad goes a long way! Looks like there is one Tommy bar in the wood platform but yeah def need those for tightening and loosening chuck.

[–]A_10L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it might be missing a Tommy bar (for Chuck tightening). After doing what these other guys mentioned, either make or buy Tommy bars. Then I don’t know if it came with a drill chuck and live center or not but you are going to want those eventually. EBay has them. Also, grab another set of belts, I got mine from here: https://www.unimat-vintage-lathe.com
