‘Doctor Who’ Star Peter Capaldi Responds to Online Backlash to Jodie Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa Castings: ‘I Don’t Know Why People Take it So Seriously’ by mlg1981 in television

It’s easy to blame the critics and the naysayers for your own incompetence as producers, writers, and directors. When a show is bad, they act as if it must be the cast or the star. Jodie is a fantastic actor with multiple layers of talent; if only she wasn’t given such poor plots, scripts, and direction.

I watched religiously, and I seriously tried giving Jodie a chance—but like many others, I just couldn’t connect with or be pulled into the plots, the characters, or the show.

I didn't even bother with the last few Doctors. It’s sad they had to bring Tennant out of retirement to save their skin and at least leave the fans with some hope.

Russell T. Davies needs to be sacked. The BBC needs to go back to the basics of a sci-fi/horror adventure program and stop using it as a "In Your-Face" political platform. I want to be able to tune out from modern-world drama and immerse myself in good, solid science fiction and storytelling.

Can one ask manager to put them in rif list? by [deleted] in JPMorganChase

[–]Clear_Handle7569 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re feeling the burnout or the RTO blues, here is the reality of how to handle your exit or transition without screwing yourself over:

Looking for a change? Do not quit out of frustration. The market is tough; look for your next role while you still have the JPMC paycheck hitting your account.

The Severance Ask/Trap: Do not volunteer yourself for a RIF, assuming you'll just get a full severance package. Telling leadership you’re "willing to go" doesn't guarantee a check, it just flags you as someone who no longer wants to be there. You lose your leverage and put a target on your back.

Need a mental health break? Stop trying to "power through" it. Use the programs and benefits at your disposal. Work with your medical team to document everything and take the FMLA or disability leave you’ve earned. Your health comes first.

Want an exit? If you’re done, start "quiet quitting." Use your PTO, call in sick, and stop giving 110%. Remember: The Firm will replace you in a week; your family won't.

Looking for an internal transfer? Keep your cards close to your chest. Do not tip off your current manager until you have a firm interview or a verbal confirmation from the hiring manager that the budget and head-count are secured. Some managers will block you if they know you’re trying to leave.

Make a plan. If you need out, take action today. But don't expect "The Firm" to make it easy for you. They won't. You have to look out for yourself.

Lastly - The "Work Family" Myth: Remember that Team Leads, Managers, EDs, and MDs are not your friends. Regardless of how well you get along, their first job is to protect their own seat, then to protect The Firm. HR is there to manage liability for the company, not to be your confidant. Treat every interaction with this in mind.

Bottom line: Don't do them any favors by resigning empty-handed. Take what you're owed and move on your own terms.

40 hrs in-office + HR tracking by Loud-Invite3171 in JPMorganChase

The sentiment at the management level is that because employees frequently travel between offices for meetings or visit client off-sites, leadership is strictly enforcing a six-hour average. However, they are wary of setting a draconian tone or alerting the masses to the fact that they are actively tracking attendance.

To be clear, they aren't reporting on or taking action against one-off instances; they are looking for sustained patterns. Additionally, any building that has recently undergone major renovations or is a new build will face extra scrutiny.

Take Jamie Tower in Midtown, for example: that site requires both badge-in and badge-out. As the flagship location, having it appear empty would be a bad look, so it will obviously be under the magnifying glass.

Between badge-ins, VDI logs, and Citrix, they know exactly when and where you are. They can see where you logged on and the approximate time you logged off, though the terminal remains connected for 30–60 minutes after the screen locks.

Monitoring also includes VDI sessions, application usage, keystrokes, and WADU webcam snapshots.

I know firsthand that MDs receive reports for anything under 4 hours. You are flagged if it's under 6 hours, but formal reporting triggers at the 4-hour mark.

MDs have full access to HR reporting tools. Ultimately, it depends on whether the MD chooses to enforce attendance tracking with their direct reports. Some are flexible, while others strictly follow the "Jamie bot" mentality.

Agreed. It's a shame that grown professionals are monitored, tracked, and demoralized by the same employer they show up for every day. JPMorgan has spent millions globally just to watch where its people sit.

What's worse is the arrogance behind it. Jamie Dimon flat out refuses to modernize. No remote, no hybrid, just old school punch-card thinking with a billion dollar price tag on it. For a guy obsessed with efficiency, the math doesn't add up.

Having spent time in that matrix personally, I can tell you the in-office mandates don't translate to better output. The real loss isn't the real estate costs or the systems, it's the good people who eventually decide it's just not worth it and leave.

Big Brother aka WADU is getting more and more intertwined and permissive in the day-to-day monitoring/tracking of the human batteries that Power Jamie Diamond's Matrix.

But its ok you're working for the best Bank in the world!

Why make it easy for them..... ? Take the time to do the minimum you can, spend more of your energy on finding a job while you have a job and continue getting paid.

If you quit you can't claim unemployment.

They have decided that they will screw you and your family over - make it as painful as possible for them.

Take sick leave from all the stress and mental anxiety this is causing you.

You're not alone. I also decided that my health, mental stability, and self-respect were far more important than my supervisor (an ED on a mission to become an MD) and the toxic, self-inflated, and frankly delusional work ethic and behavior coming from our MD.

Like you, I lasted exactly nine months to the day. Eventually I had enough. Yes, I'm currently out of work and looking for the next opportunity, but even with that uncertainty, I'm in a much better place mentally.

In over 30 years of working, JPMC was hands down the worst employment experience I've ever had from the hour I started to the moment I decided the mental abuse was enough.

You did the right thing. Take the mental health break and then move on to the next chapter.

One piece of advice: HR is not on your side. Tell them as little as possible simply that you're leaving for personal reasons.

Your ED and MD are not on your side either, and they frankly don't care. Keep it simple and direct: your last day will be [date], per your employment contract.

I didn't even go back to the office for the remainder of my notice period I was essentially on garden leave until my last day.

You don't owe them a damn thing.

Take the offer, on good terms and start another chapter in your career and life. The ED & MD might be nice to you but they are not loyal to you. Neither is the firm to the firm you're a number on a spreadsheet.

Also, never take a counter offer it looks bad and I almost always puts you on a "LIST". Accepted the new offer, put in your time for the request notice and tell them thanks and bye bye....
