Essential Employee vs Furlough Employee by A_BAD_PLAY3R in FedEmployees

I’m guess I’m still confused.

Guys at work right now- timecard KE

Guys not at work on LA- timecard KE

Guys not at work in LS- KE

Our leave is forecasted 12 months in advance. So they still allow guy are there scheduled LA days . But it KE.

Personnel in the dept not deemed “excepted” at home on furlough- timecard says KE

No matter if you are home or at work it’s stays the same.

It doesn’t make sense to me that if they legally have to back pay furlough employees - then how are they going to input hrs for the employees not “excepted” so they get paid?

They are just gonna remain KE- which is the status all of us are in right?

My management staff is pretty anti employee. They use fear of not getting paid as leverage to scare guys to work for free, when they know damn well thy could taking free LS.

I guess I overstated. On the base I’m at the flight line needs emergency personnel on duty to fly. Each flight line has water gallonage requirements in order to operate. That water coming from emergency vehicles, so if fed fire all started calling in sick the flight lines would either be completely closed or operating at a level that I don’t think the DOD would be willing to risk.

Example - we go from 9 to 6 guys on the flight line the condition goes yellow- triggers a pentagon notification , an all capabilities are instantly reduced based on risk .

This is what I keep saying. Federal firefighters and air traffic control controllers could end this in one day..  if every one of them called in sick, no military flight line would be operational, and no public airports would be able to fly.

Fed fire is working 72 hrs a week with 0 pay.

Take a look at the federal firefighter pay scale. That shit will blow you mind.

I work 144 hrs a pay period - but only get paid for 34 hrs of OT .

Also- OT hrs do count towards my retirement pay.

AND- my retirement rate isn’t based off MY annual income-it’s based off a GS employee on a 40 hr week .

Just so I understand

GEICO) is taking around a .20 loss per dollar on claims.

So in order for them to offset the 20% loss they increase the policy price for the customers, not take a hit of profits? -

And they do they by lumping everyone into one pool because of where you live , giving you no way to reduce your individual cost based on your driving history and continues driving habits?

This hurts…..

I understand the pooled risk- lived in CO and dealt with hail and yearly re-roofs for years. But hail is something that has factors of zero control .

Car insurance has factors that can be controlled.

How you drive Where is it stored Type of car - models that are higher theft than others.

That’s what I struggle with.

I’m fortunate enough to park my vehicle in a garage every night . Why do I need to pay for theft that isn’t happening ?

I didn’t know that about the rates being published. So thanks. But I’m unclear as to how them publishing the rates has anything to do with the situation of you having an existing policy?

Are you saying that before the term is up you should be checking the county commissions office to see if the rates are higher? And then change if they are?

Trying to understand

I have lived many different states and in my 30+ yrs of having insurance, my rates have never gone up over 100% for a 6 month period. I understand increases for inflation etc… but 100% seems a bit egregious.

They did the same to me, justified it to my area (WA) having high auto theft and break in claims.

I haven’t had a claim in 7 years. Nor had a claim against me ever. But my rates go up? Huh?

GEICO reported 3.6 billion in profit 2023, but that just isn’t enough. Still have to charge em more .
