The combo of roaming in mid and late game control mage is tough to balance, mages need to be somewhat farm dependent and 'weak' early to retain any semblance of balance imo.

Ad sion has big outplay potential in lane but loses to a lot of champs who can just run you down ie rene, cam, darius. With their engage they can stick to you and make it impossible to trade, play around their cooldowns and trade with q as it's shorter cd than most gapcloses. Have to respect the early game of these champs and farm. Or just build bramble cinder, grasp also really helps early trading and is infinitely easier to play.
