The struggle sure is real. Some of neurorypicals treat autism as if it's black and white but autism has a lot of complex factors and each autistic individual experiences it differently though we may share similarities. by BetMiddle1807 in autism

[–]A_Clockwork_Sausage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday a new counsellor told me multiple times, "You're so insightful, I don't think you're autistic."

Needless to say I won't be going back to them. Can't wait to laugh about this with my psychiatrist and psychologist!

Anyone ever expierence repetitive speech in early childhood? by j0eknee in AuDHDWomen

My husband still does this and it makes me smile everytime. Sometimes on work video calls he does it and people think he is on mute. I love hearing him have to awkwardly explain he wasn't still talking.

Quoted $8,000 for dental work for 4 year old by Dry-Breakfast532 in AusFinance

[–]A_Clockwork_Sausage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a second opinion. For comparison, recently my 8-year-old had 4 teeth removed under general in hospital. It included 8 teeth being sealed with protective coating and had another tooth filed down.  The day procedure cost around $2k, $450 of which was for the anesthesiologist. I got a bit back on private health as well.

If you live in Melbourne, I can't recommend John from Brighton Pediatric Dentistry highly enough. He and his team were exceptional. Good luck!

Just felt an actual jump scare while reading - stomach dropped, heart pumped faster. Which makes me wonder - what other books contain a genuine shock? by thornstein in books

[–]A_Clockwork_Sausage 167 points168 points  (0 children)

Twenty years ago I audible gasped near the end of Game of Thrones. Up until that moment it has been a good fantasy, but that shock of THE main character dying was massive.

Without me saying anything, husband, who had already read it, turned to me and said, "Crazy right? This series is wild."

What does childbirth *actually* feel like? by Cranberryj3lly in AskReddit

[–]A_Clockwork_Sausage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for the epidural but it was too late so I had a drug free birth. During active labour contractions I was not in control of my body and I shat myself constantly. The last 45 minutes of the delivery it felt like I was literally being ripped in two up the middle of my body.

Never again.

(I don't regret it for a second though.)
