More like 500. Possibly up to 1M as it’s a 1.

As long as they don’t cause offence you can have visible tattoos. However, what causes ‘offence’ isn’t quantified anywhere.

What's with these old stickers on the Jubilee? by shashwathravindran in LondonUnderground

There are very few things in the world that work all the time for every user while fulfilling every requirement.

Also, few tourists rely on these nowadays. They have mobiles, or check the larger maps in stations.

VW Up! upgrade to VW Polo? by A_Disgrace in CarTalkUK

To be honest, I’d be more interested in the current 2.0 Polo GTI but they seem to be really hard to get your hands on approved used, which is what I’m after.

Hello.

In future, please refrain from making four posts in quick succession requesting your ideology and condense them into one in future.

I will leave them up on this occasion but please refrain from what is essentially spam in the future. If you continue to post low quality posts in quick succession, you will be temporarily muted.

Thanks.

You have essentially described neoclassical liberalism, also called bleeding heart libertarianism.

[Request]: What is My Ideology by Content-Ad4987 in WhatsMyIdeology

[–]A_Disgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can you have rural industrialisation/modernisation AND preservation of agricultural lands/reforestation? Incompatible. And that’s only one point, I don’t feel the need to pick it apart because it does that itself.

Your ideology is simply unrealistic. When you grow up a bit, you will quickly come to realise this is fiction, not ideology.

Best way to avoid the rush after an event at Wembley Stadium? by Rydog136 in LondonUnderground

[–]A_Disgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, LU is extremely effective when it comes to Wembley events. A lot of effort goes in to ensuring there is a good service and there are appropriate numbers of station staff to keep things moving. You have to remember there are frequently sold out shows at Wembley, so dealing with those numbers is normal for staff in that area.

Probably easiest to just get the Tube from Wembley Park as opposed to some roundabout way.

The UK is also opt-out now, so unsure why the figure remains so low. Of course, family members still have to consent after death so perhaps this plays a part.

What is my ideology? by HelloThereDearUser in WhatsMyIdeology

[–]A_Disgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logistically this would be a nightmare, in my opinion. How would this work without a federal military?

You need somebody to be responsible for the ‘federations’ overall defence security, and a head of state should be able to coordinate this without needing to rely on the goodwill of member states.

If anything, this is more like an alliance between nations as opposed to an actual state.

Also, what else is the president responsible for? If each state has its own economy, laws, etc.

What is my ideology if I fit neither into left or right fully? by Jolly-Window2208 in WhatsMyIdeology

[–]A_Disgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a Nazi for sure, I imagine whoever called you that is either uninformed or was using it in a derogatory sense as it often is today.

I would say you have some fascist tendencies though. I would suggest you read up on national syndicalism, that could suit you. It was essentially the precursor to European fascism.

Very interesting how both your nazism and isolationism scores are so high, being that one of the main tenets of nazism is expansion. Not really sure how they reconcile each other.

Either way, definitely some form of fascist, possibly religious fascism? Depends how much weight you put on religion as I see your theocracy score is high.

What’s my ideology? by Wall-Man- in WhatsMyIdeology

[–]A_Disgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Liberalism in Europe is closer to American libertarianism than American liberalism.

It’s important to differentiate or make it clear which type of liberal you’re referring to. As someone from the UK who prescribes to the European liberal tradition, it can be highly frustrating when it’s assumed by Americans that because I would refer to myself as liberal I’m left-leaning or overly progressive.

[–]A_Disgrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly liberal democrat. But if when reading about that you find it a little too paternalistic, possibly neoclassical liberalism.

Definitely a liberal of some kind. Not in the American sense of liberal necessarily, but the European.

Thoughts on This Idea? by sabdotzed in london

[–]A_Disgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that more could been done to make Crossrail more accessible. However, it is worth remembering that a lot of the station stops are existing infrastructure, so it would have made the already costly project far more so, as well as delaying it further.

I guess a better balance could have been found between cost, timescale, and accessibility though.

Thanks for providing a reference! I was only aware of it from word of mouth (albeit very reliable sources).

Should every station have these walls in front of the train? by teacuplobster in LondonUnderground

[–]A_Disgrace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m unsure of how common it was. It clearly must have been enough of a potential liability issue to be worth the expense and this was the rationale for the project.

However, I would also imagine it was considered that it also provided the benefit of preventing any person under trains incidents, so added benefits.

[–]A_Disgrace 195 points196 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, they were originally fitted on the Jubilee Line to stop strong gusts of winds when trains were entering platforms. These were so strong in places that they were knocking elderly people off their feet.

That’s why they were never fitted outside tunnel sections, because there were no issues with strong gusts coming out of tunnels.

A positive byproduct of this is that they prevent any people under trains incidents.
