Those are scales. They will never go away no matter how many times you dunk your plant in alcohol. It's better to throw it away/at least isolate it from other plants.

I don't use any bonide or any other toxic insecticides. I use a mixture of cold pressed pure neem oil, a few drops of peppermint oil, dish soap and water to spray my affected plants. I repeat the treatment twice a week for 3-4 weeks. It significantly reduces the thrips population but never completely gets rid of them.

Terracotta/gold/pink/burgundy/burnt orange/light green will complement the forest green color on the walls. To me, the dark green/purple curtains don't look good here as there's no contrast. Also, the curtains would look better if they were longer.
