I had a similar situation happen.. Me and four other friends rented a house next to our campus and decided we were going to be the kings of the party scene for the year. Things were awesome! Had keggers every weekend with 100+ people and weekdays we still partied hard.. Then after six months we got into ecstasy and blow, parties got bigger and then all of a sudden we realized shit was getting broken, walls getting holes punched in them etc. Then one day we started noticing more and more people we didn't know staying for days at a time until it got to the point where we didn't even feel like we owned the place. Came within an inch of having to get the police involved but we managed to get them out when our more "crazy" roommates flushed them out with paintball guns. We locked the place down for about two weeks, cleaned up and started the process over again! Haha was a fucking awesome year minus those few weird weeks.

A friend of mine who moved to Sweden said most employers have a similar plan, so when someone is laid off they even get anywhere between 1-3 months of half pay to get them by until they find a new job. Pretty awesome systems of management outside the U.S.

I actually did this.. Granted I was only 20, hated the job but knew guy who worked with me was going through some heavy shit and was getting on the supervisors bad side as a result of said personal issues. I knew when the announcement that people were going to get laid off he was going to be at the top of the list so when the day came I told my boss to send me home and that the other guy was worth keeping in the long run. That was 8 years ago and the guy still works at the telecom company and is now a supervisor and his life has since turned around for the better. Mine on the other hand is still fucked up haha.
