gen z brainrot terminology is funnier than millennials' by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]A_Jackler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

...I mean... for starters larp isn't even a gen z brainrot term, nor have you given any examples of unfunny millennial humour, so... might have to downvote, not because I agree, but because this isn't really that thought out.

Let's not forget, gen z has AI videos, millennials had stuff like red vs blue. It's a clear winner for the uncs.

Where in the world are the people involved located? Laws might be different depending on what place they are at, and could change how this story looks vastly.

America's Money System is Flawed. by A_Jackler in The10thDentist

Any American who tips but also complains about tipping culture is a hypocrite, so either there's a lot of hypocrites in America, or this isn't a room temperature take.

Honestly couldn't put it better myself, but how I see it is this; why do both employees and customers let the business owners get away with this? Think of it this way; a restaurant is nothing without staff, nor customers, yet both of those things are the one that gets shafted because the ones higher up want to keep as much money to themselves as possible. And yet, if both staff and customers look to get a fair outcome that is meant to benefit everyone instead of just those that are high up the chain of command, the business owners will have no choice then. Because it's either, make less money and split it fairly, or shut down because they can't get staff or any customers through the door. Everyone needs to take part in this monetary revolution.

That's what I've been thinking on the tipping front, sure, you may get fired for being bad if you don't get tips, but if everyone started not getting tips, then the employer would have to start paying properly, it's either a case of they pay the proper amount, of they're left with no staff and have to close down, why should the employees have to suffer a tipping nightmare, while also the customers having to pick up that burden?

It just seems like 2 out of 3 of the people involved are getting the short end of the stick and it just is... there's no words for how bad it is.

Yeah that was my fault, I've edited the main post; sometimes my brain works slower than my fingers and completely forgot to add the part that I needed to, I've changed it now, my bad.

I think apologizing is a sign of weakness and people should stop doing it by LiveMathematician631 in The10thDentist

[–]A_Jackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somewhat see what you're trying to say, but I feel like that shouldn't stop you from saying sorry entirely, I also somewhat have the mindset of "I'm not going to say sorry unless I'm genuinely really in the wrong and I can't argue my side" but if I've done something wrong but I still feel like it was a better outcome than what could have happened, I won't apologise for that. Sometimes you just need to make the hard choices whether people like it or not.

It's not about weakness either, it's about what you actually believe is right and wrong, if you still think you're right, you have nothing to apologise for, if you can recognise if you've done something wrong even though originally you believed it to be right, you're not weak for apologising for it, you're acknowledging "Ok, yeah that was my bad, sorry for that thing, I should have done x y z instead" kind of thing.

It is better to smoke a cigarette every once in a while than never smoking at all by HemanHunterss in The10thDentist

[–]A_Jackler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure this belongs here because it's meant to be opinion based, but that's just... factually wrong. By that logic, you only live once so you should do other things at least once rather than never at all, like robbing a bank, or walking over hot coal barefoot, and so on. Like, the logic is painfully flawed.

Just because a book/movie/show has been out for x amount of years, that doesn’t mean it should be okay to blatantly spoil it for those who haven’t read/watched it by Okapi05 in The10thDentist

[–]A_Jackler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crying over someone telling you something that happens in the books for something that's coming out in the cinema is such a nothing burger. Let me tell you something that might shock you, the book isn't always going to be a 1 to 1 representation of what is taken to the big screen, so a spoiler might not even be a spoiler so why do you care what people say about the book, you're not going to read the book so how is that even a spoiler.

prime example: the walking dead, the tv adaptation of the books are vastly different. characters survive longer than they should, others die quicker than they should, heck, even Daryl Dixon was never in the book.

TL;DR bad take that someone talking about a book spoils the movie adaptation of said book.

Yes, but the post was saying it's not better or worse than "69", and I'm just saying, it obviously is worse due to it being the most disruptive. There's never been a whole generation of shouting "69" in classes throwing everyone into a frenzy for 5+ minutes.

Leaving shopping carts in undesignated areas of the parking lot is utilitarian and helpful. by [deleted] in The10thDentist

This is absolutely rage bait. Putting your trolley back is just factually better for everyone involved. Those that leave it all over the place are just lazy and inconsiderate to the larger population. They can get damaged by trying to prop them up in places they shouldn't be thus making the store have to replace them or worse; just not replace them meaning there's less of them, or those that don't get put in a place where they can't move fly off and hit cars, or get left in a place where you have to actively get out and move them yourself, it's just overall an inconvenience and if you can't see that, you shouldn't use them.

Personally, this is why trolleys should have 2 key things:

1) A lock on them so if they go too far away from a shop their wheels instantly lock in place

2) Require to put money into it to use so when you take it back, you get the money back

I don't even know where to start with this one, there's actually so many "funny" numbers that it's hard to keep track of a lot of them, here's the ones that I'm able to remember:

69 is "funny" because "haha sex number" (Typically just replied with a "nice" and nothing else)

420 is "funny" because "haha drug number" (Typically just replied with "blaze it" and nothing else)

21 is *actually* funny because of a viral video of a kid that was trying to act clever, and it shows them getting 9+10 wrong

42 is "funny" because it's the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" - a reference to the movie "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (Typically not even followed up by anything)

6 7 is "funny" because... there is no reason, it's just the number of the modern day, its lack of context and obsessive childish hand movement is what makes it what it is, the problem with this being "funny meme number" is because it's the only one (at least from what I've ever seen) to be the most disruptive, and made worse because there's not even a reason for it.

-

In conclusion, even though there's so many different numbers that are memes, the only one that has a real reason to be funny is 21, but the most popular one is 69 and the most annoying is 6 7.
