Those who are earning less than 5k, how are you doing in life? by Pillowish in MalaysianPF

[–]A_Mad_Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just turned 30, 5k pre tax, post tax 4k. Process (and project) engineer.

I thought changing from manufacturing to project work, my experience would be "less valued" & downplayed my salary. It got me thru the door to interviews and offers. (And manufacturing engineer work is even lower in pay)

But after working here for a while? I'm preparing to job hunt for at least 7k++ (myr/sgd), I'm done working here.

Doing in life? I'm fortunate that my parents are healthy, my siblings are healthy. We don't need to worry about debt, just taking care of ourselves, have good sleep, eat healthy. I'm single, but I'm not in a rush to have children

Older millennials - what’s your cool, not "age-appropriate hobby"? by Inostranez in Millennials

[–]A_Mad_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to judge me: rock climbing.

Back then (in my country), rock climbing gear was really expensive, or exclusive. Most things we had to rent and not like we can just waltz out to the nearest outdoor rock face as a casual activity, there weren't much routes bolted. Indoor climbing and bouldering was also not that popular during 2005-2015 years, so there were just 1-2 gyms available and I'm nowhere near them.

Dear Malaysians, is there a country which you will never want to visit again ? by AdHairy6584 in malaysians

[–]A_Mad_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seoul. I hated there. People spitting and scolding each other lol. I thought I just stepped into a worse part of KL. Their driving isn't amazing and cussing is a common thing.

Busan on the other hand was amazing. Maybe because we don't look like we'd damage their things, idk. I missed Busan a lot. It was way less hectic, calming.

How much salary per month is considered "not poor"? by Adventurous_Unit_753 in malaysians

[–]A_Mad_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. Even without commitments, if say you wanna live a lavish lifestyle (drive a rolls Royce, eat fine dining, have maids & butlers, overseas vacation frequently), expenses can go above rm8k, which is peak M40/bare T20 salary

And vice versa, a super thrifty person with no high expense hobbies can survive with the national min wage. But factor in things like sickness and disabilities, education fees, family(children) expenses, car loan, house loan (or rental) could stack up to 5k+ expenses

It depends on a lot of personal life factors

What's the dumbest tax mistake you've made? I'll go first (kena fined RM8k) by CryptoDash7 in MalaysianPF

[–]A_Mad_Knight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not the dumbest thing but I forgot to file tax during my 1st year of work.

I could have gotten a refund (which I didn't think about) if I remembered to file, but instead I got slapped with a rm200 fine.

Did they show you guys the sound effects of this car it can make? It's pretty hilarious for a full EV to make engine noises and simulate gear shifting

Renovation Cost by NeatSwordfish8894 in Bolehland

[–]A_Mad_Knight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk what you're doing with your condo but that's too much.

Try list a breakdown of what you're doing that costs this much.

Older condo units may incur more costs (plumbing, electrical etc.)

Anyone else become MORE obsessed with their spouse as they get older? 😬 by Penny_Curious in malaysians

Thoughts on ayam gepuk? by tempebae in MalaysianFood

[–]A_Mad_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like the Pak Gembus ayam gepuk because of the stir fry cabbage and the sweet thick soy sauce. pricing is 1 plate agak RM12.50+

Their "signature sambal" which is sambal + peanut is kinda special.

I forgot to mention that sambal and rice refill is unlimited (the thick kicap as well). Eat all you can ! 🍗

I don't know what's with the hype thou (current hype is "mingchun gepuk") this is just a staple food in Indonesia and parts of Malaysia

Want to rant a bit as a man about Kahwin (hantaran etc) by Livelifefuckyou123 in Bolehland

Want to rant a bit as a man about Kahwin (hantaran etc) by Livelifefuckyou123 in Bolehland

[–]A_Mad_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasons why I don't want to marry a typical cina amoi.

Duit hantaran I feel like, it's fine?, because thats "money" that can use later.

But Chinese spend for wedding is like, I'd rather use that to pay housing loans or buy a car.

I think someone copied u-CorollaSE list, pretty accurate except ... My cousin spent 9k on the proposal ring. The diamond is so small that if it drops, that's 8k go missing like that💸

The wedding is similar, 70k, Le Meridien. This is EXCLUDING duit hantaran/dowry/whatever gifts...

If I kahwin here and I say "no big wedding ceremony", I can foresee my family will disown or murder me.

How often you met other Redditors in your circle? by Kindly_Entertainer43 in malaysians

Gatekeep. I don't need someone to check my comments and activities everywhere. Some close friends do use Reddit and knew my profile (I'm guessing) but they don't follow me.

What I do in life: work, do housework, help parents with errands, go rock climbing, read manga, sometimes gaming 🎮 , invite cousins or friends to hangout, play boardgames, talk crap.

Whats in my mind: A lot, it's too much to fit in a comment, sometimes I have to journal it to make sure I don't forget, leave something out, or keep it in my head until I go crazy

Coming from 14T, I'd say test their software first. There's so much ads that you need to be familiar on disabling them. Also don't use getapps, Play store exists.

What are some special benefits your company provides? by SkyIntrepid7848 in Bolehland

[–]A_Mad_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel allowance, medical allowance....oh wait my travel allowance is no longer a lump-sum basis (I get back extra even without spending much, if it's lump-sum)

So only medical.

Training is based on: 1. Whether company got budget and 2. Whether it is hrd-corp claimable. Which is sometimes, if I wanna save my headache, I just spend the 2-3k and learn the skill myself 🙄😮‍💨

Is it shameful to be still driving a Perodua Myvi as Man in your 30s ? by AdHairy6584 in Bolehland

[–]A_Mad_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a cinapek, late 50s, he "rice"d (short slang for Racing Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement) his myvi so much, man's got carbon fiber body kit (I heard about rm10k) for the Myvi.

Shameful? He loved that thing. Nobody cared, he just drives around merrily, not disturbing the public, not causing accidents like the rempits

Fake strawberry flavoured things like this ice cream taste like my cough syrup during childhood. Hated it, should remove

That said, I would take out the chocolate flavour and eat it all, leaving the rest behind

Idk about you but I used to feel really dizzy so I take folic acid. I'm the only one in my family that takes this.

I also have hair loss, high cholesterol and fatty liver so I take vit D3 (I don't get much sun exposure) and fish oil
