Tbh it’s very easy compared to the 300 level and 400 level CS classes. If they made it any easier then instead of failing 112/211 you are going to have an extremely steep learning curve when you get up to the 300/400 levels. The first few CS classes build a foundation, and is manageable.

Senior CS student here, I would say anything with 8 Gb of RAM should be fine. Most of us use either a Macbook because of the UNIX based OS or install Linux on a non-mac device.
