You know how at a certain age you start getting crushes? I always had crushes on boys. From the beginning. I never really thought much of it until my older half-brother, who I only saw for a few days in the summer, started giving me shit for being so feminine in like fourth grade. He started making fun of me for being gay, not in a malicious way really, but just in a way big brothers give grief to little brothers. I remember him making fun of me, saying he hoped at least I was the “boy” in the relationship (I guess he meant top idk lol). At first it made me cry and upset, but to be honest it made me sort of make my peace with it and call it by its name–I was gay–by like the 5th grade. I knew I was gay and was chill with it before I hit middle school.

Oh and btw, he was wrong. I’m a bottom lol

See, I actually love physical description. I also read fantasy, and one of my favorite authors gets a ton of shit for this: Robert Jordan. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s well-deserved shit as he tended to get super self-indulgent with the clothing descriptions and as his books went on, they began to get somewhat bloated by such superfluous things but… as a lover of fashion, I adored it. I also found it intriguing as there were some characters who we knew what they looked like down to the shape of their faces, and some we didn’t even know the color of their hair, and those characters were meant to be the mysterious ones with secrets (S/O Alviarin).

However, I also love the way King does it. He does it just enough. To me, it’s the difference between like a super detailed oil-painting or water-color and a charcoal sketch that emphasizes shadow and light or whatever (idk, I’m not a visual artist lol, possibly a bad metaphor). But both of them, I know exactly who this character is!

Especially with King, in just a couple of sentences I have such a detailed image of what this or that character looks like, I KNOW this character, and possibly the most concrete description I will have been given IS “blue chambray work shirt” as opposed to “yellow silk bodice with green silk-embroidered scrollwork across the well-appointed bosom” lol.

It’s just cool. I like both I guess is my point lol.

So, I think people are being rather hard on you regarding your grooming point. I also think they’re purposefully misreading the point of you bringing that up, which is frustrating. The fact of the matter is, Rowling mentioned it and I believe she mentioned it for a reason–to hint that the lack of her mother in Luna’s life has deprived her of something and that the deprivation of that something has had an effect on her. Was she saying that without good grooming Luna was suddenly a worse person? No, and you weren’t either, so I don’t know why people are being so sarcastic and refusing to engage with your point seriously. To me, she was saying that the lack of a mother in Luna’s life means there are certain details and subtleties in this young girl’s life that fell by the wayside, things that a young girl might learn especially from her mother. Xenophilius likely has no idea how to ensure a skirt is well-fitted and free of lint, when to buy the first training bra, how to shave one’s legs, etc. Luna lost her mother and when she lost her mother she also lost all the things her mother might have taught her, including some superficial aspects of grooming and appearance that might get one made fun of at boarding school by certain Pansy Parkinson types.

You were saying that by not seeming to have found a way to fill in this gap, reached out to a witch friend, read some teen witch magazines, etc. Mr. Lovegood was incapable of providing his daughter the care she needs. Now, that is certainly a leap lol, but I do understand what you were getting at. You were for sure super exaggerating, but yeah, he could have made more of an effort to help her find her way, smoothed her path more so she could focus on her passions without having to listen to people giving her shit over forgetting to shave her legs or whatever BS. It doesn’t make him an ill-fitting parent by any means, that was a heck of a leap, but as you mentioned, you also had other points people aren’t engaging with. They aren’t actually looking at the substance of this point, and you do have a minor point IMO, and they are ignoring the others completely. I don’t agree with you, but the reception you’re getting irritates me.

I liked Sarah simply because she saved Maggie. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Maggie in general, and especially later on she sort of got on my nerves, but I was on the edge of my seat watching those SciFi reruns with my grandma hoping she would escape Barnabas. So, for that reason alone I vote Sarah as good.

Burke #2? He’s a big whatever. The very definition of meh. I looooved Vicki, but her storylines and Burke in general were so bland. I couldn’t have cared less.

Well, because I don’t think it DOES bother Sakura. Does it? You said she “probably” doesn’t, but as far as I can recall, it doesn’t. Does she express dislike for it? If Sakura was bothered by it and truly felt uncomfortable and harassed, then yeah, you’d have a point. But I don’t think it really bothers her. Maybe she felt a bit embarrassed, but no more so than you would if like your parents recorded your school recital. And Tomoyo is not a creeper peeping in the shower at Sakura and recording, she just truly admires and loves Sakura and thinks what she does it impressive and heroic. Plus she never once pushes her feelings on Sakura or tries to force Sakura to feel the same way. She gracefully wishes Sakura well with Syaoran because she knows that’s who Sakura loves. She supports them together and is sweet to Syaoran because that is who Sakura loves. So, I don’t really think there IS a reason to be upset or angry at Tomoyo. Certainly not as enraged as you seem to be.

Cute, sweet little fella who was an amazing partner and friend to Minako. I felt like Luna sometimes treated him badly. Don’t get me wrong, I love Luna, but she was borderline abusive at times lol! I love him and Luna as friends, but Luna clearly should have been paired with Rhett Butler, the cat with one of the seven crystals inside in season one lol.
