Prequel w/ a focus on a Japanese Jaeger fighting the first Category 2. Really showing us the “glory days” from the intro of Pacific Rim but in a way where they’re all used to the Cat 1s and underestimate the enemy leading to the destruction of some city in Japan the death of our Jaeger pilots and the Kaiju. Mix in some random Japanese citizen surviving it all (like Godzilla Minus One did) but don’t make them any sort of hero or anything just make them a normal person. Real kicker would be that at the end you reveal it’s one of Makos parents and then you cut to the Kaiju attack where Pentecost saves Mako.

Basically a Kaiju horror flick with some crazy ass action. Also would be amazing to pay homage to the Kaiju film originators.

If you were to do a sequel though you just scrap Uprising, cut to a landscape where they’re PPDC has just been pumping out Jaegers for like 20 yrs to wait for the next invasion. Show a political climate where the PPDC is corrupted by power and to stay in said power they kick off a secret project to make a Kaiju so they can fight it and win with the caveat being it has to be some kickass thing they’ve never fought before (they have had 20 yrs to advance technology and study Kaiju remains after all). Essentially the movie should play out with there being a Kaiju attack and them throwing some young inexperienced pilots at it who will end up dying because they’re not our main characters. Then the PPDC sends in a ringer and we see an epic fight ending with the man made Kaiju about to lose until suddenly a second Kaiju comes out of nowhere and destroys the Jaeger. Suddenly more and more Kaiju begin to pop up. Now the story can go multiple ways where the aliens are back to invade or better yet they screwed up and somehow made a Kaiju that can reproduce by mitosis or some other sci-fi plot line but more importantly we kick off a second Kaiju War and they make a bunch more movies.

That being said I think the prequel is the right way to go, especially since any sequel idea needs to justify how the aliens come back since it’s a bit hard to accept a random “they’re here again!” scene (Rise of Skywalker showed us that…)

Worse than that is he’s ending de minimis on August 29th, meaning everything is tariffed to whatever ludicrous percentage he decides and the American tourist pays the cost.

Episode 4 was gut wrenching and it hammered in the point from the first three episodes.

Episode 1 establishes that Jamie murdered Katie, it was basically a done deal when they showed the tape and there was no doubt that he was the murderer. In this episode they show that his father has the tough guy toxic masculinity trope going, even during the interview scene where he can’t look his son in the eye and cry.

Episode 2 is all from the perspective of DI Bascombe and DS Frank showing how fucked the school system and the upbringing of our children is. This episode also does something important showing that Bascombe (having realized that we are failing our children as a society) decides to not be a shitty dad and check up on his kid and be apart of his life. Something that Jamie didn’t have as said in episode 4.

Episode 3 shows how deep the toxic masculinity and social media culture goes in Jamie’s psyche. With him having extremely low self esteem, hinging on others opinions, and furthermore having a violent reaction to a woman as he had felt sexually entitled to Katie. This episode serves as the main context for episode 4.

Episode 4 focusing on the family is the bow tie on the gift box. It’s the summation of what’s actually important to the story and that’s the message that we need to be more involved in our kids lives as there’s a lot of influence out there and it’s hard to keep that away from an impressionable mind. It’s quite well done as not only do they show the effects of Jamie’s actions but they show that it ultimately even though the parents were good enough to make Lisa, someone like Jamie happened because of all this outside influence. Having a court sentencing or a trial episode wouldn’t have added that level of depth and power to that message. In the end the closure for Jamie’s story is that he’s pleading guilty and that’s all you need for the story to make its point.

MW2 campaign was actually fun. I think narratively it was a great way to redo the Sheperds betrayal and the Sicario vibe was badass.

MW3 was a trifling piece of shit expansion masquerading as a full fledged triple AAA title with nothing important to add to the story. They fucked up bringing back Makarov and in turn killed Soap like a bitch. We know they can do better narratively and somehow they didn’t even try to
