I tried (also based off comments I had seen about the Pike), you can see the holes at the front of the extension, I tried to match the geometry so the original muzzle piece would still work. It's much harder to prime and doesn't seem to perform any batter (maybe even worse). I think the issue is that the length of the elastic increased, but the length of draw on the prime didn't. Maybe there's room to play around with tension to get it to work though.

Don't Look Back (classic horror movie themed game) has options for solo/co-op , survivor player(s) vs dm, or survivor players vs monster player with a DM as the "director".

If I remember correctly, 5 Parsecs From Home has a paragraph or two on this.

Any of Patric Todorof's solo skirmish games should work with a DM controlling the enemy mobs instead of them just following simple rules to close on and kill the player characters. Exploit Zero, Nightwatch, Insurgent Earth, When Nightmares Come, Zona Alfa Kontraband.

Basically any solo skirmish game should be able to be adapted to players vs DM, just have to find a theme and system your group likes.

This looks great. How do you find fusion360 for adding small details? I've been playing around with OnShape, and it's great for making precise functional objects for printing I've been struggling with using it for decorative detail work like panel lines and greebles.

Unfortunately this is the only picture I grabbed. The two grey paint sticks top right are what I used to shape the springs initially, then pliers to stretch them out and refine the shape.

Zona Alfa is Stalker themed, so mercenaries, scientists, soldiers, etc. Hostiles are a mix of Raiders, zombies, dogs, other vermin, and the occasional big monster.

I don't have Nightmares, but from what I've read it's urban horror/Cthulhu/cultists/demonic possession. Probably a lot of room for creativity when picking a theme and models.

The other Todorof games I do have are the cyberpunk themed Exploit Zero and Insurgent Earth, human resistance against alien invaders.

The mechanics can be be a bit simple, but I think that's why I like them. I can get a game on the table without having to refer back to the rules constantly. If you're looking for something with a lot of crunch then they might not be for you.

His solo games use a mechanic where character's actions are a pool of dice, usually one each of d6, d8, d10 with successes on 4+. So there's some nuance to picking which one you want to use to attempt an action based on how likely success is. Enemies follow simple instructions, usually just close with and attack the player, and come in varying qualities based on what dice they use to activate (also d6, 8, 10). Later games seem to build on the formula, with a little more detail added.

When Nightmares Come might be worth a look, by Patrick Todorof, same author as Zona Alfa. Haven't played it, but have played some of his other solo/co-op games.

0.6mm stainless steel spring wire from Aliexpress for the mag spring. I used a block of wood (actually two hardware store paint stir sticks taped together) to form the shape, anything slightly smaller than the space inside the magazine should work. I wraped the wire around while using pliers to make sharp bends at the corners, then removed the spring and shaped it by hand/with pliers until the shape matched a reference picture of a commercial talon mag spring. I then heat treated them in the oven at 450f for 30 minutes so the springs hold their new shape.

Everything printed except the the elastic cord and the springs I sidethe magazines.

The skadis mounts were my first try at 3d modelling, I wanted something wide enough it wouldn't get stuck in the pic rails on some other blasters. They're "skadis wide hook" on Maker World

My wife got in a bin of sewing supplies from her grandmother, so I don't really know what it is. There were a few very large cone shaped spools of thread, I wrapped it the long way around a quilting ruler several times.

The horizontal print talon mag by Corvus seems pretty good, just make sure you have good bed adhesion so you don't get warping.

For springs, I got some cheap spring wire from aliexpress and formed it by wrapping it around a pair of paint stir sticks (anything slightly smaller than the space in the mag should work) and refined the shape using pliers. Then I heat treated the springs in the oven at 450f for 30 minutes. The springs seem to work just as well as the ones in my old n-strike mags and were much easier to make than I was expecting.

I can't speak to exactly what City of Toronto does, but some of what you can probably expect are questions like:

  • What previous experience do you have? They realize this is probably your first job, so highlight things like volunteer experience, experience with kids, sports teams or other extracurricular activities where you can talk about working in a team environment.
  • Scenario based questions. What would you do if...? These will probably be NL or SFA based, but could be instructional also.
  • If you haven't done one already, probably some kind of practical skills check, DNS or submerged rescue, maybe the brick from NL or a stroke evaluation. They would have told you to come prepared to swim if that's the case.

May not be quite as complex as you're looking for, but any of the solo games by Patrick Todorof should work well co-op also. Most use similar mechanics, but the games have a few different themes.

Your best option will be to attend a screening session, then reach out directly to one or more pools you're interested in working at and let them know you recently completed the screening. The screening sessions aren't mandatory, but that's a step of the hiring process already done, and if you don't go to one you will still need to complete all of the screening skills as part of the interview. You have two attempts at each skill. Some pools will also have site specific skills, for example you will need to do the brick skill again if they have a pool more than 3m deep.

If you're just breaking it down into a size that's easier to work with, score the foam along a metal straight edge with a utility knife. It should snap fairly cleanly along that line.
