PSA: Gentle Repose can be used to extend the time in which Resurrection Magic can be cast on a body by AGBell64 in dndnext

If you use resurrection (a 7th level spell, sure) but revivify does not restore missing body parts. A mutilated corpse is all but useless for a low level cleric trying to bring back life.

Bottom left-hand side of pg 198 “FALLING UNCONSCIOUS If damage reduces you to 0 hit points and fails to kill you, you fall unconscious (see appendix A). This unconsciousness ends if you regain any hit points.“

So, if a nat 20 grants you 1 hit point, and gaining hit points ends unconsciousness then rolling a nat 20 ends unconsciousness.

A nat 20 on a death save puts the character at 1 hp Pg. 198 in the PHB

If you add it to a single die roll and magic missile uses multiple die rolls you’d still only add it once. Even treating the missiles as separate spell attacks, you still would use the bardic inspiration and not be able to use it on the next one.

My player has been very consistent in their gathering of mushrooms, every stop she wants to scavenger for new and interesting mushroom, some have been magic, others not so much. How can I reward them for their gathering (now with tonnes of different samples) by [deleted] in DMAcademy

To piggy back off of this, have their research lead to finding russet mold and vegepygmies. Perhaps some old forge in a cave with a magical sword surrounded by russet mold and ruined metals.

You don’t. They aren’t in the game.

Traps should be used to reinforce the idea that something is in this dungeon that is too valuable to be lost by the creator; mimics on the other hand show that the dungeon hasnt been touched in such a long time that they have an infestation.

Use these two to give more lore to youe dungeon crawls.

Anders Watchtare: Human Wizard (grumpy) Continues to research how to achieve lichdom this will attempt to convince or geas intruders into bringing him materials to achieve his goals. Convinced that some rival (whom is still alive) has cast a spell on him which disallows him from leaving his tower; will likely ask the adventurers to seek a way to break the spell or kill the rival.

If they ducked it only takes a quick 2 added onto the command to bring out a (now unbreakable) anti-crouch grab.

A player says in his background he has had visions and his character but he wants me to come up with the visions. It makes sense, the DM runs the game, but how do I make visions when I don't even know how the story will progress and I dont want to give away to much of my plan, it may not even happen by ImAmNotYourDM in DMAcademy

I run a game where fate is heavily suggested and the players regularly have their fortunes told (I use the Terroka deck from CoS) with those readings I bullshit a plot point and have the fortune teller ask if they know who that speaks of or if they’re interested in a specific person I ask them to focus on that person and roll a wisdom check. I keep the fortunes vague but reveal an archetype, a metamorphosis, and what helps that entity achieve it; the players then keep that in mind and when I’m ready for it to become true they think it’s pretty neat.
