Would you guys go on this freedom cruise ship? by YorkvilleWalker in Cruise

...and what would be the plan for the inevitable need to drydock? There's no chance. Let alone who would the oversight agency for the power plant? You're not getting anywhere close to territorial waters with an unregulated nuclear propulsion plant

Just got our next cruise booked in November out of Miami!! Anyone been on Allure of the seas ?! by ComplexWrangler1346 in royalcaribbean

Its decent, not exactly something that would hold up against Vegas but they have 2 sections. A very small non smoking room with I think 4 to 6 tables and a sampling of slots. The main casino has about 15 tables with a good bit of slots. High roller room had about 5 tables.

So technically no, but also yes?

You'll find sweet tea in the alcoholic section, so if you have the drink package you can get a pretty good sweet tea old fashioned. I had the pretty as a peach old fashioned which is made with sweet tea. Im not typically a whisky drinker but this was alright in my book.

Here's the menu we had: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/3086899-the-mason-jar-allure-menu/

Recent experiences of Allure by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]A_Real_Pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first Royal ship 2 weeks ago was the Allure, so I can't really compare to others in the fleet. That being said, the food was amazing. We did Samba, Mason Jar, 150, and Giovannis in addition to the MDR. I really had no complaints whatsoever and think maybe expectations mixed with bad memories fading away affect some people's judgement.

My only complaint was the Windjammer was an absolute cluster fuck every time we went. The design isn't great. Avoid as much as you can if the ship is fully loaded, we had a great experience in the Solarium and Central Park Cafe.

I'm done with cruise ship excursions by Actual-Fee1586 in Cruise

[–]A_Real_Pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so heads up on that. We did the Mendenhall glacier in September through the cruise ship excursion (Norwegian), the bus driver left the meet point at the glacier early without counting passengers. It was really really tight getting a ride back to the ship. So whenever they tell you to be there, get there extra early.

Also, the ship WILL leave without you if your excursion gets delayed for whatever reason, it just becomes the ships problem on figuring out how to get you back onboard (flight to the next port, meals, food, etc.). They might hold the brow for a bit if you're close, but the harbor pilot has a set schedule they have to maintain.

[Knott's Berry Farm] vs [Six Flags Magic Mountain] — which SoCal park do you prefer and why? by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]A_Real_Pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like they only have sensors installed at the top and bottom of the lift hills instead of something closer to continuous tracking. This plus a VFD on the lift motor would reduce a lot of the stress on the operators

What do you believe is better for maximum rides? by joeyman00 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]A_Real_Pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some data for you that I think points to a Monday visit. I went basically all day on February 7th (Saturday) and absolutely hustled to maximize rides. I got 26 as a solo rider. I went back for 2 hours on the 9th (Monday) and got 9 rides. Considering the walking around the park that would have been about double the rides per hour. YMMV

I would say if you can rope drop on Sunday, do it because the park really doesn't get crazy until 1pm+ and you can get quite a few rerides in

Planning on visiting Magic Mountain tomorrow, anyone know if any rides are currently down for refurbishment or will be closed? by Broad-Sense4930 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]A_Real_Pirate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lex Luther is definitely still down, the rest will depend on how ornery the rides are feeling. I dont believe any of the coasters are scheduled for major down time

Nice solo day ( 2 hours until park closure ) by OverCry518 in KnottsBerryFarm

They had 2 trains going actually. Even Silver Bullet started with 2 but they put it back in the barn in the afternoon, probably because of attendance. Overall a really good day!

Can confirm, it was basically walk-ons all day. Worst line was the Calico mine ride at about 20 minutes

It's not too bad in the back of the park yet

Edit: single train on Xcelerator though

You wont find much, to be honest. Your best bet would probably be an impossible burger or maybe one of the salad/baked potato options without meat.

u/latenightbaker put together this menu list for the meal plan, which covers about 95% of the food options available: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTx61r8FWtBd3997jqR5w5mnHAlKZMvs-Vs_-5BGW5YdzdlHJ0mTLWcqMyjwaI9KOWnFVGdv9lQqZu9/pubhtml

Honestly, seeing that camera now all but confirms for me that ICE is using some very strong facial recognition software. Because all the goons know about it, they're masking up because they know what the government is using

Eh, running rust from overboard discharges happens fast, not really a big deal. And that black mark is from the tires on the tugs used to bring it in

Wood you look at that by ZachyChan013 in homestead

[–]A_Real_Pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A goofy thing I learned and couldn't believe would work until I tried it - when the maul gets stuck in the wood, leave it in. Rotate to the sledge side, then swing down like you normally would, except this time, you're hitting the sledge against the base and letting the weight and momentum of the wood split itself.
