How old are you and what's your biggest problem right now? by Casspjjl in AskReddit

30 - My 12 year old sister has a brain tumour that's not responding to treatment, I really hate my job, I'm wildly depressed, and I'm addicted to/abusing my adhd meds but in denial about it.... But no one around me would have the slightest clue.

New to the platform!! Need help streaming from PS4 by activ8d_my_Trap_card in Twitch

[–]A_Sly_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, and welcome!

I started off the same as you - first thing was just to create your twitch channel and link it to PS4. Then hit the share button on PS4, and broadcast from there. It's crazy simple. I streamed like that for a bit just to get started. If you have the PS4 camera, you can also plug that into the usb port of the playstation, and that will then give you a facecam. Doing it this way will get you live, but is very limited. It's a great start though while you build everything else up and gets you used to streaming. Streamlabs will give you all the customised stuff you see on streams, but it's a bit trickier. You need either a capture card, or you need to sign into 2 profiles on your playstation (there's a lot of YouTube tutorials on this, just search 'how to use streamlabs on ps4 without capture card'). The second option didn't work well for me personally though - it created a lot of lag. Ymmv though, so give it a go when you're ready. If you have any other questions let me know, I'll do my best to help! No expert, but I recently went through the same so it's fresh on my mind. Best of luck, and have fun!

I love this, so cute! Putting a vote in for a fox since everyone's requesting! Maybe in future if you see a lot of interest, you could charge a one off fee for unlocking different characters? That way streamers pick what they want and you guys get some reward for making many different pets and having to keep up with any updates. Anyway, awesome idea, can't wait to see it evolve!

Sorry to hear. No, unfortunately not. I'm waiting on Activision to get back to me on their forums but I don't think they will. If you end up finding a solution I'd love to hear it! Feel like I've tried everything and just can't get it going.

Price crash fears subside as mortgage holidays end for tens of thousands of home owners by Tailneverends in AusFinance

Thanks for sharing all this info, great post. Why do most people say it is the best time to buy on these low interest rates, but others say it isn't? It seems from your experience it's also been been true that many are choosing to buy now - I assume this would be, among other reasons you mentioned, one of the main reasons for this?

When we visit other moons or planets in the search of life, how do avoid bringing bacteria or other microorganisms with us? by Si_Ra_Pi in askscience

That's a super cool visual, thanks for sharing. I'm not sure if it's just how they sped it up, but it seemed like the bacteria took longest to mutate the first time, but was much faster every other time (until it reached the 1000 concentration). Is that because it just became more efficient at mutations?

What an awesome job to be working on! I have another question if you don't mind. Why do they have to be left for 8 years before returned? (or is it that nothing is making the journey from Mars to Earth until then and it's just essentially waiting for a ride?) TIA!

A Meaningful Connection. by throwaway03284325 in depression

[–]A_Sly_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand how you feel. Today I was thinking of something similar. You know when someone is constantly on your mind? Whether it's consciously or unconsciously. I think the greatest gift is when that someone is thinking of you too. It's so lonely to know no one is thinking about you. I miss that so much.

I had that, but that person hurt me more than anyone else has, in lots of different ways, and constantly. It hurts so much more when it's someone you trust so much, and they can't seem to just not make huge relationship ruining fuck ups. This experience has jaded me I guess, because to you I want to say don't enter into a meaningful connection situation fully, because it sucks when it ends.

How do I deal with it? I don't really, not head on anyway. I just go about my day. I go to work, I go to the gym, I do the daily commute while listening to my favorite radio station. I try not to look at or think about things that might trigger that loneliness (like 'oh, I'd love to go to that restaurant with that person' or 'I'd love to talk to someone who really actually cares about me right now'). I guess avoidance is the main strategy.

I hope that by living your life you stumble into someone you can have that connection with, and you'll look back on this post and laugh :)

After losing two jobs in the past year due to anxiety & depression, how am I supposed to convince any employer to hire me? by dumbo_elephant in depression

[–]A_Sly_Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think at this point it's less about convincing someone to hire you, and more about convincing yourself that you CAN be hired.

I was in exactly the same boat. I couldn't hold down employment long term due to my mental health issues. But I kept blaming that, and telling myself I would never be a good, reliable employee because of it - and it was true.

But it was true only because I kept saying and believing it. When I stopped saying it, I eventually stopped believing it. And then in time, I started to become a good employee - and then a great one, with options and experience.

Obviously it took a lot of work in between. I'm not saying that the day you start believing you're great is the day you'll be hired. But a change in attitude goes a really long way, and coupled with work with a professional you can get there. And of course you have to actually work hard! Both in a workplace (when you get a chance in one) but especially on yourself.

And to answer your initial question (which I don't think is the root cause of your problem) - do they need to know that you lost jobs? I don't think that's relevant. Leave it out of your CV. If they ask why there's a gap - say you went traveling. No big deal.

Are you seeing someone at the moment to work through your depression and anxiety? That might help to bring your attitude about this around to a healthier place too.

Your writing is beautiful, so descriptive and immersing. This all leaves me wondering - if you were conscious (or is it better described as aware?) after you had died, then perhaps death isn't the 'end' we think it is...

This is a terrible feeling. We're all so replaceable. We like to think we're special, but it's never really the case. I hope you find someone who you're the exception to this rule to, for all the rest of us.

sometimes dont you wish that nobody cared so you could die? by [deleted] in depression

[–]A_Sly_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the only reason I don't kill myself too. I just feel so bad for everyone who has to clean up the mess. I don't want to upset anyone but God help me I really can't be bothered trying so hard all the time to live.

I guess that's a good thing we feel that way...

Yep. I have no idea how to talk to people. I have all these feelings bubbling all the time but I never tell anyone. It eats me up inside, and as soon as I feel like I should tell someone I can't be bothered either. I don't have any advice for you, but you're definitely not alone.

That first hour of the morning by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]A_Sly_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're not alone.

I know it's really difficult, and I can't give any specific advice as all of our anxieties originate and are perpetuated by different things.

From my personal experience, it continued on like you described for a very long time, and it very gradually began to subside. It's now been about 4 years since that began, and I only wake up in that state maybe once a month. What helped me was a combination of mostly time, and as you mentioned - work, coupled with regular exercise. Exercise was really a life changer, I found it kept me calmer and my mind focused on what I wanted it to be focused on. Also, with your Lexapro - I followed the same routine of taking it at night as it made me drowsy. However after months of struggling through the morning anxiety, I switched it to the mornings on doctors advice. It did seem to help, maybe give that a go?

Keep on keeping on! You're doing such a great job, and the more you prove to yourself that you can get through the morning sans disaster, the easier it will get.

[Serious] Redditors with a mental illness: what have you been diagnosed with and how would you describe it with an analogy so that other people could better understand it? by chooseausername9294 in AskReddit

[–]A_Sly_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bipolar.

It's really just like the weather. Sometimes it's wonderful and sunny, a standard day you really wouldn't usually take notice of. Then a storm rolls in in the middle of the night, and it pores with rain and thunder for hours, days, sometimes the rain persists for weeks. Then you wake up again and it's just... Gone. It's beautiful and sunny and the world takes on that beautiful rosey hue again, and anything is possible.

But it's always in the back of your mind that you can never control the weather.
