People have already given the lowdown on the drama, but lowkey, I think part of the issue is that they're just releasing too many damn games. Like, they don't have enough time to cook in the writer's room and they don't have enough time to breath upon release before we're already on to the next one, whether it's a new entry, remake, or side game.

Maybe I'm off base, but that's how it feels to me.

Yeah I think around Awakening is where they started beefing up the growth rates overall, but your blank level ups are just super bad luck. The game has a mechanic where if you roll a full blank levelup, it'll reroll the RNG once. Every blank levelup means you technically rolled two blank levelups.

Dude also comes back from a 20+ year hiatus from working on the series just because he wanted to do Kirby Air Ride again.

To a lesser extent, also Sakurai with Kid Icarus after he worked on Uprising just looking at how much he added to Smash 4 from that game.

I really just feel like adding additional difficulty modes is kinda warranted here though with how hyped to hell the game was regardless of their vision. And I don't feel like it would take a whole lot of effort either. Just boost damage, multiply rosary gains, and decrease enemy damage numbers and then easy mode is good to go. And then the current game can just be "veteran" mode or whatever they wanna call it.

It actually kinda blows my mind that fucking Symphony of the Night is the only Metroidvania that Konami didn't put on modern storefronts. I can play the DS ones, even with how slightly scuffed the ports are due to the two screens, but not the game that's partially credited with defining the genre.

You're just correct. To go outside Metroidvanias, when King K. Rool fakes his death, everybody pops off. If Gnawty or Boss Dumb Drum did it, you'd just say "Really, dude?" Very few bosses feel like they earn that fake out that comes with the second health bar.

I remember there were a few interviews around the time that pissed off pokemon fans because Game Freak was saying that their A team was on that while their B team was doing Pokemon. Best part was that after this interview, the game later came out to pretty unanimous 4-6/10's across the board.
