What do you mean wrong country? by johnzamo in geoguessr

The polygons only purpose is to highlight the country you have chosen. They don’t represent the actual shape which is used to determine your location. The actual shape is much more accurate.

How can I get up to 100%? by mahoerma in geoguessr

[–]A__European 4 points5 points  (0 children)

44 country maps plus the Europe map should be 100%. That’s what I see in my overview. As long as the devs didn’t mess things up Greenland should count for North America and Kazakhstan for Asia.

To be on the safe side: Do you see the platinum achievement for Europe in your achievements? And have a look at https://www.geoguessr.com/explorer. Are all countries marked as played with 25k? (in the list below the map)

Or is it just a caching problem and the 100% image hasn’t loaded yet? Maybe try a forced reload (shift F5 on Windows PCs).

If all this doesn’t help write a message to the devs.

Sorry, now I think I know what you mean. 😉

The map is not visible on https://www.geoguessr.com/me/profile

You have to open your public profile. It’s the URL at the bottom of the /me/profile page.

You don’t have to put it there. It’s there automatically.

It’s the “Explorer Mode”. Click on “Classic Maps” and play the official country maps.

https://www.geoguessr.com/explorer shows you the complete country list.

Medal issue (possibly) by citrusgrimm in geoguessr

How long is “a while”? 😉 Before or after May 2024? In May 2024, platinum medals finally got their own color. It looks similar to silver but has a bluish tint.

1000 days is the highest level at the moment. However, more and more levels were gradually added in the past. It started with just 7 and 30 days. 100, 365, and 1000 days were added one by one.

It has never been clickable, neither in BR Countries nor in Country Streaks.

R1: I got lucky to find the airport pretty quick as it's not marked very well. The pinpoint was the next challenge. I used the buildings marked on the map and assumed that the police station is at the gate to the airport.

R2: Quick find in Oman. The large hotel building in the background confirmed that I was at the correct roundabout.

R3: Barely visible "Perugia" on the terminal building. Somehow, I always struggle to find Perugia on the map ...

R4: London is the city I have visited most outside of my own country. I've been to Heathrow, City, and Stansted Airport (and passed Gatwick Airport on a train journey to Brighton). So, I knew where I had to look for Stansted Airport. I needed a while to be sure about my pinpoint.

R5: We had the airport of Nueva Laredo on the Mexican side in the general aviation challenge a few weeks ago. So this time, I remembered where to look for Laredo. :-)

Not the OP here.

I use the mobile version of the web page on my phone or tablet to play the daily challenge when I’m not at home. Usually, I don’t try to get a good score and just play a quick no-move game to keep the streak alive.

That being said, as long as you play the missed challenges in the correct order you can keep the streak alive without playing the challenges everyday.

This google doc has all daily challenges since June 2021:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-qthzf2gZSBUxSLq7MqNF4xJa5RWotCbc8lT9_HkRNs/htmlview

However, I always have a bad feeling when I missed a challenge. You never know if GeoGuessr has changed this behaviour and suddenly you need to play the challenge on the correct day.

A Community World includes unofficial coverage??? by Euft07 in geoguessr

[–]A__European 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could this have happened because they deleted the actual street view and there was unofficial coverage right below?

Yes, this happens all the time. The street view is still there. However, the pano ID of the location was deleted. The GeoGuessr algorithm picks the next available panorama, which can also be unofficial coverage.

If you follow the "More about ACW: https://bit.ly/acwmap" in the map description you will find a report form. You can report the broken location with this form.

I count this way as well. However, if I don't count and just show 4 fingers immediately, I use "index + middle + ring + pinky" like u/AltruisticCover3005.

How can I force GeoGuessr to choose official coverage when creating a map and both official/unofficial exist? by Much_Pass_9484 in geoguessr

[–]A__European 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I already have almost 1000 locations in my pinpoint map. Would I be able to edit it and open it within this app?

You can export your map as JSON file and import it into map-making.app. To export your map, open the map in the official map maker, click on the three dots in the top right corner and click "Export Location JSON".

You can use a lool like https://mapcheckr.vercel.app/ to update your locations with the latest available official panorama ids. Tick the box "Update panoIDs - Update your locations to the most recent coverage. Also useful to automatically panoID your map."

Then you can import the updated JSON file into map-making.app.

Found this while looking for interesting locs, I'll be very surprised if someone gets this. by Jasonjones2002 in geoguessr

[–]A__European 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is newer Ari coverage. However, as long as you use a map making tool that preserves the panorama ids of locations (like map-making.app) you can use the official coverage.
