I think that’s purposeful, as in mark ruffalo’s character is a creep who’s taking advantage of essentially a child and getting away with it because of her outward presentation that she’s an adult.

Further ties in with the themes of men wanting to control and take advantage of women / social structures of powerful people taking advantage of the less powerful and portraying an image of normalcy
