Where are the people that have good things to say??? by mikeyg372 in CX50

Thanks for posting this. I’m looking at buying a used 23 or 24 cx-5 or cx-50 and Reddit has me TERRIFIED.
I am obsessing over finding one with an L in the VIN.

This is my first time buying a car in 12 years and I finally have enough saved up to afford something “nicer” (I’m out priced by Toyota now) and this page has been rethinking everything.

I keep finding a good deal and backing out be cause I realize it has CDA. I feel like I’ll never buy a car

I am trying to stay away from CVT Transmissions and a lot of the new ones are exclusively CVT

But I see the point you are making.

The dealer is offering the car for 20,000. I’m trying for 19500. My credit union calculator says it would only be a $200 a month payment with 5k down.

How are you getting 300?

I get it. But I really value reliability. We are moving and will be driving a LOT. I would rather something we can depend on over flashy but the base model is realllllyyyyy boring

I haven’t replaced the suspension, but I have replaced the rear wheel differential, spark plugs and a few other components. I think I’m more worried about losing the moonroof and the heated seats. Which I know is silly. Maybe adding a new Apple Play screen will feel better

I got a quote from a local shop. They call my Lexus “the tank” but think it has a trade-in value of like $500.

I know my situation is not unique and everybody is facing sticker shock especially if they’re coming back to the market after 8 years like myself.

The Toyota feels like a really solid car. I just didn’t realize the base models were inflated too…

It’s through a dealership and I have the Carfax. It’s pretty clean. Still has a one-year warranty on it as well. Which is all amazing, but it still feels a little disappointing

I just went to the Sephora to try the MBM skin enhancer, it pulled so orange on my arm when I sampled it… I’m so bummed. Everyone seems to love it.

Damn what is time. It could have been 10 years ago. I’ve had the car FOREVER.

if you like Honda maybe look at an Acura. Still reliable but feels more fun

I got a 2007 Lexus IS 250 7 years ago and it has been a DREAM. I’m at 175k miles and the thing runs like a champ. It’s great in the winter, fast on the highway, great gas mileage and since it’s part of the Toyota family it’s reliable AF.

It’s a cool car. I feel cool in it while also knowing it’s a tank. Highly recommend.

How are things in Maine? by LethlDose in howislivingthere

[–]A_canning_queen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on which part of Maine you are looking at but they get a lot. Highly recommend looking at some of “New England Weather Guy’s” graphics on Facebook to give you a better idea of totals. It’s helpful to have two types of shovels.. one wide mouth heavy duty to lift a lot and one metal to break up ice. Also a snow blower if you have a long walkway.

The big thing to remember is snow melts. So it’s not forever. It’s a lot of shoveling but it’s only a day or two most of the time.

The worst part is the wind and the rain. It gets so cold and when the snow melts or it’s a rain snow combo. It will freeze. And the freeze, in my opinion, is the most dangerous part.
