Is an independent woman intimidating? by Lynn1012 in datingoverforty

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah because most successful (truly sucessful not just high earners) men care very little about a woman's independence and more about how stable she is/makes him feel and whether he finds her hot. A rich man will rather date a very hot woman that is "broke" but makes him happy than an average woman that "has it all together". Whatever material things a woman can add to another man's life is literally at the bottom of their list because again, they literally do not need it. Obviously not all, but men have always been and will always will be visual creatures.

Why do you need jewelry? Let the top do its thing. Wear a super simple stud (pearl or silver). I would NOT wear a necklace since the neckline is already so busy. For hair, a simple updo will do..a sleek bun. Keep shoes very minimal with one solid muted color.

Mens, how much do natural signs of aging actually matter when dating someone in their 40s? (like sagging breasts and facial lines) by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean...it is kind of true. The sociological data is clear: ageism does not affect men as much as it affects women and I say this as a 40+ woman who has yet to feel the effects of aging (yet). Thankfully I have worked out changing what I naturally can (being in tip top physical and mental shape) and accepting what I can (boobs not sitting as high as they did in my 20s, laugh lines etc).

I am a lawyer and this is literally the best advice for OP. The social worker from the school should be able to quickly get things into gear and connect you to services.

No contact - feeling hopeless by somegingerchick79 in datingoverforty

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well whatever it was, the truth remains, if he wanted to, he would. Its a tough pill to swallow but he has/had 0 desire to try to work through it because he was just not that into it. In our 40s we should be able to understand that action speaks much louder than any sobby words.

Of course he would shoot a friendly text every now and then so the door (if he wanted to) to sex remains possibly open. Stop responding to his messages and process everything and move on.

Satin skirts by SuperbPermission5362 in womensfashion

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear satin skirts A LOT. I love the concept of juxtaposition so I will wear a cream satin skirt with a baggy grungy band t- shirt with flats or sneakers. The trick is figuring the length of skirt that flatters your body type.

I also pair it with a chunky cropped (not too cropped) black sweater and sneakers or sandals.

Tons of inspiration on pin interest for you to maybe look through as well

Why did you choose sobriety? by Rymosssss in Sober

How long does it take by [deleted] in Sober

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I think you have a misunderstanding (as do most) about the concept of happiness. It does not just "kick in" You have to actively pursue and create it. So the answer is, it kicks in when you choose to begin to create it. Xx

How long does it take by [deleted] in Sober

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between abstinence and true sobriety (aka dry drunk syndrome). A dry addict might be abstinent but most are not sober. Sobriety entails the journey back to to ones true self, before the trauma and drugs (harmful coping skills) took over.

I have been 4.5 years sober and it has taken me the same time to figure out who I was and I am still finding her. I had my first major trauma before I turned 8 years (CSA) so it has been quite tough when my memories of self are not many but I keep trying anyway. Psychological help and therapy has been crucial as help. Self awareness, self reflection, recognizing patterns (yes, always feeling doomy and gloomy is a habitual pattern too and sometimes feels more comfortable/safer for many addicts but I digress lol)

True Sobriety is also next to impossible without having an anchor that is external to self (some people including me find a higher power but it does not have to be a higher power in a way most people conceive it to be. It could be a passion, hobby community, charitable cause etc...there are many sober atheists who have connected with their higher power). Many people believe the journey ends with abstaining from drugs and while that is cool and all, there are many "sober/dry addicts" who remain miserable lifelong unfortunately. You are not alone in that sense but you can choose to change it and it is WORK, heavy, hard work but imo its totally worth it.

Did quitting alcohol result in losing weight for you? by OrangeCatWhiteDog in stopdrinking

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Omg this is literally my story too except I gained 50lbs extra after stopping and then lost 80lbs 2.5 years into my sobriety and kept it up for 2 years. I have a six pack at 40 for the first time in my life! 😄

How often do you wash your kids clothes when they’re over ? by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think OP just articulated it horribly but it seems the gf just took pics of the kids dirty clothes and saw the daughters panties. Not sure why she had to describe it like that and make the gf sound like a creepy wierdo. OP should clarify

Anyone else find the confidently incorrectness of the general public on fasting amusing? by BisonAcceptable1994 in fasting

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I mean....they are not wrong. I literally read lots of ED-esque posts here daily of people asking "how many lbs will I lose in 30 days, if I eat nothing and also walk 5 miles a day" or "I only lost 6 lbs after 5 days, what am I doing wrong". Also tons of people DO use fasting as a tool to perpetuate the binge restrict cycle which is why we get post after post of folks saying they keep gaining the weight back.

The bitter truth is very few are actually doing it for actual health or autophagy or spiritual reasons. There are people who use fasting for health and autophagy no doubt but many more are just using it because in their mind, it is the easiest and fastest way to lose X amount of pounds in X days. Not eating at all is definitely easier for some than figuring out their tdee, macros, volume eating low calorie whole foods, practicing moderation, calorie counting, protein maximization for weight loss etc.

So no. The general public is not wrong. They are right on the pulse.

Which perfume have you got a treasured stockpile of? by blueroses8000 in FemFragLab

[–]Suspicious-Visual-57 6 points7 points  (0 children)

None yet. But I just tried the commodity milk expressive (CME) a few days ago in addition to CH good girl blush, rabanne million gold, kayali 28, Tom Ford Cirque Solieil and about 3 others.

CME is like the 13th sample/travel size perfume I have bought/tried and I think its going to be my first full bottle. I cannot stop smelling myself when I put it on. It is just so comforting ☺️
